Underwhelming with potential to be better

Stayed recently with family and it was nice but not very memorable due to the overall experience. Starting with the positives: the room and bed was comfy, the rooms are a good size and modern, the updated foyer bar is a nice place in the evening; and food was good. Unfortunately, there were a number of misses that impacted the experience. Baby crib and included champagne wasn’t in the room on arrival and required a phone call reminder. One LED light above the bed didn’t fully turn off and impacted my partners sleep. Keys weren’t coded correctly to our guaranteed late checkout (part of package) and maintenance tried to enter the rooms shortly before checking out not knowing the room was stil occupied. Lastly, while the restaurant has nice food, it’s soulless, has harsh lighting and desperately needs an upgrade.

Stayed over with my sister for my birthday weekend and since it was our first time at Swissotel, we were nervous of what to expect. Check in went well and hearing the piano travelling through the space with dimming lights and warm buzz of guests already got us struck with warmth. The staff at the Bar and waitress were just as nice as the hotel! Kind enough to offer wine tasting as it was my first time trying alcohol and the variety of cocktails were phenomenal. Thank you to the F&B staff!🫶🏽 Will definitely go back again and for that, i’m already booked in for the end of May. See you soon!

Staff were friendly, professional and helpful. Loved the location in the heart of the CBD. Easy walk to restaurants, stores and tourist locations. Directly across the street from the State Theatre with many great shows. Ten minute walk to Darling Harbour and the best seafood restaurants.

Dirty Toilet and No Towels

We arrived late in the evening, after flying into Sydney, the check-in process was fairly quick. On entering our room, we noticed that the toilet was visibly dirty on the outside, and we didn't have any towels or face clothes in the bathroom. I gave the toilet a quick clean and then went down to the front desk to get the linens sorted, we received towels, but apparently there was only one face washer in the whole hotel available . . . begs the question what else in the room was dirty / not cleaned properly. Not exactly what I would expect from a 5-star hotel in an executive room at $450+ a night!

Looking forward to the next stay already!

An overnight stay to rest after the Chris Issak concert at the State Theatre. A stylish hotel without being pretentious, very comfortable and well appointed. The hotel's location is perfect to explore the city, either by walking or public transportation - the QVB Light Rail stop is very near the hotel. Already looking forward to our next stay!
