Tired Novotel Phuket hotel

We have stayed here a few times and have loved it. Unfortunately this time wasn’t as good. The hotel is tired and needs a facelift which it is getting but with that comes tools sounds all day. First night we were in room 114 and had workmen grinding and hammering (facelift) all day right next door. We asked to move rooms and they did to room 310. A better room but out on the balcony to the right was the workers again. The breakfast buffet was unfortunately boring. With so many tropical fruits available they had a grand total of three of the worst. The bacon was kept behind the counter and you had to ask for it And then you were given 3 pieces. The croissants were just yuck store bought. Like I said the place is tired. The restaurant needs an update with tired furniture and the food is not great. It’s more of a convenience than a go to. The staff is polite, friendly and young but unfortunately most of them couldn’t understand English. They had many young people and no older people with maturity. We found it easier in the past communicating with older people there before covid. If you asked a question each of them gave you a different answer. Like 5am we are leaving for the airport and I asked if I could use the coffee machine. The first said no not till 7am. The next young man that walked in said yes you can. Not consistent. We had vouchers for food and drink. On the restaurant drink menu you could have everything except the beer. Things like this make it frustrating especially as cocktails are more expensive and you can have those. Your drink vouchers also can’t be used at the pool bar. So you go to the restaurant get your drink and bring it back to the pool. A unnecessary rule that is annoying like the no beer with vouchers. Pop, our room maid was super lovely and very helpful, friendly and a beautiful smile. The gardens around the pool are beautiful and well kept. Also the hill that you have to walk up is very steep and tests your fitness level and at 54 it’s not my friend 🤣. It close to the beach, night market (which is fantastic) and shopping but again the hill to die on is between you and your room. I hope this hotel picks up. It says it’s a 5 star but I’d put it at 4 stars.

We're also sorry that you were not happy with our drink voucher terms and conditions when you wanted to use at the pool bar which was not listed as the applicable outlet for the drink voucher. As for the beer, I'm sorry that the team didn't explain better the ongoing promotion. A 'bucket of beer' promotion is offering four bottles of beer at a very special price and available at both En Vogue restaurant and Zing swim-up pool bar. We appreciate your candid feedback about the seasonal fruit varieties at breakfast, our restaurant service, and the overall vibe of the hotel. We will carefully consider your comments as we continue to evaluate our service quality and work on improving our facilities. Once again, we hope that despite the challenges, you were able to enjoy your time in Kata. The hotel service was impressive and the girls at the front desk were very valuable in helping guests with difficulties and offering advice. Tina is very nice for this. The swimming pool is good for the kids, the hotel have shuttle to the beach is very convenient services
