My husband love going to this Hotel - the staff are all so welcoming and friendly its difficult to name them all Howard, Paula, Amelia and Daryl. On this last occasion we had some dealings with Kevin the Maintenance Manager - what a clever guy - he sorted us out so quickly and was polite and curteous. Another feather to your bow Abbots Well.

I stayed here for one night whilst attending a wedding nearby. It was about £120 for a one night. The staff were friendly, the free parking was easy and overall decent value. Overall though, it felt dated to me. The room smelled of stale smoke. The double bed was adequately comfortable and I slept well with the window open, but I was surprised by the lack of aircon and I couldn’t see a lift or sign for a lift. The management clearly try but the age of the building just shows (eg there are usb sockets but not by the bed, where you actually need them). It was a comfortable enough night but not the sort of hotel I enjoy spending time in. It feels due a major refit or a rebuild.

The whole team work really hard to offer a great experience and it is always disappointing when we receive feedback such as yours. All our bedrooms have USB ports next to the bed so I am surprised by your feedback on this point. Given Tripadvisors relative anonymity I cannot see the specific room that you occupied to double check but the install of these was part of the hotel refresh undertake in 2022. Booked the hotel as an ALL Accor silver member. Usually stay in Liverpool for home games but it’s full due to the grand National. Check in at the hotel was fine. Straight forward. family room, 156. No problems with the room however the warm water took 10 mins to come through. Wasn’t a problem for us but could be an issue for others. (Next morning it worked fine) At £175 a night this isn’t a cheap option for a hotel, so you wouldn’t expect to have to wait for the warm water so potentially be prepared for that. Especially if you have somewhere to be on a morning and waiting to shower. Went down to the restaurant at 5.45pm and was told that the restaurant was fully booked for the evening. No problems with this, we didn’t book ahead but it would have been nice to have been informed at check in. We ate in the bar instead and the menu is basically limited to a burger or a pizza after 6pm. Had the burger - it was ok. Not bad, not great but fine. Disappointed when 1/2 way through food to return to the bar to get a drink to hear somebody enquire about a table in the restaurant and for them to be told there was availability. There either is or there isn’t… either there was availability and I was given wrong info or the person who was due to return to the restaurant an hour or so later expecting to be seated is going to be in for a disappointment, later on the guy just showed up to the restaurant and - nope - turned away. Back to the bar for him and his mrs really doesn’t looked impressed. Talking about the bar I find it a little strange at this brand and chain of hotels to not have sky sports. Again not the end of the world but it’s what you’d expect from other similar priced hotels. At check in we were told there was a large group at the hotel who would be having breakfast at 8 so we might be better off going down for 9. Good to have the heads up but we need to be leaving just after 9 so we went down for breakfast at 8 and it was pretty dead. Breakfast was fine. Carpet looked a bit grubby around the buffet area to the right where people had clearly dropped food. Bit strange to have carpet in this area and not hard surface. Checkout was fine and straight forward. The hotel is ok, it’s perfectly fine but there isn’t really that thing that makes you think “I will definitely come back”. That’s not to say that I wouldn’t but it would be more so a case of returning if others in the area are full rather than it being first or second option.

Hi Richie, Thank you for taking time to share your feedback and thank you for telling us how your stay could have been improved. During your stay we had a group of 150 guests in house who dined together both for breakfast and dinner, I am sorry that this mean we were unable to offer a restaurant table. Thank you for your feedback regarding the restaurant carpet too, this was actually cleaned yesterday by a contractor and we have recently approved a change of flooring to counter exactly what you describe. As you will appreciate in a high traffic area such as this the carpet quickly becomes stained so we have opted to have this changed to prevent staining. I really hope that we are able to welcome you back in the future to offer a better than 'okay' stay. We all work really hard to offer a great guest experience so it is disappointing that this was not wholly your experience. Regards, Richard & all the team

Great stay, the people absolutely make it. There were so many fantastic people working at the hotel there are too many to mention. Literally everyone we spoke to was super friendly and wanted to ensure we were having a great stay. I can’t recommend enough.

Rooms clean but basic. Not much hanging or storage space. Staff friendly and helpful. Situated outside Chester centre but close to a park and ride from which there was a bus every 20 mins. Plenty parking at hotel. Breakfast good selection of hot and cold items.
