Poor side of average.

Most things about the hotel have a slightly neglected late 80s vibe. Room was on the poor side of fair. Comfortable bed but some marks of the bedding. Television broken, mould in the harder to reach bits of the bathroom. Breakfast was a standard buffet with nice bacon but everything else, including coffee, was of a poor standard. Electric car chargers provided by a company with a poor reputation. 6 vacant chargers but required a £20(!) minimum spend and an extortionate 5p/min idling fee, despite there being no demand for the spaces. Prohibitively expensive to use. Asked hotel reception if there’s any work-around, say using a pass key they have and me paying them, nope - ‘Nothing to do with us’ sort of response, once you can coax someone out from the office to speak to.

They steal from guests. I am an Accor platinum member, i stayed in the Newcastle Mercure golf course hotel. I use my ACCOR points to bring the bill down to £12.64 I even received confirmation of the payment from ACCOR. The credit card bill showed a different story And I was charged £189. Since that point I have emailed countless times to different people made complaints and not once has anyone ever responded even when making an official complaint. I had one email back when I emailed the general manager of the hotel, he said he had not heard anything about this and would get back to me, as expected, I never heard from him again and any subsequent email to him was completely ignored. This is blatant theft and it's a serious crime and as a result I have not stayed and will not stay in any ACCOR hotel ever again. I've even managed to get my company to stop booking all hotels internationally with ACCOR as a result. Please stay with another chain and don't let them steal your hard earned money. They get away with stealing and fraud way too much. Please don't let them do this anymore and stay with a law abiding hotel chain.

Attended a Christmas do, 80, 90, 00. Music & food good. The downside was that we were packed in like sardines. I'm sure it exceeded the occupancy numbers. Not enough staff on the night. Not one dirty glass was removed from any table. Dance floor was about 12ft x 12ft people were bumping into each other whilst dancing.

Stayed one night, 31/10/23, will never stay again. Arrived just before 6:30pm business trip, requested breakfast to be added and a pre-auth on my card for a meal and drinks. Was advised the earliest slot for dinner was 7:45pm. OK. Room was spacious and clean, everything in the room worked, decor was plain and boring. Arrived in the restaurant for dinner just before 7:45pm, was shown to a table and handed a menu. Online there is a very small selection of gluten free options. In reality there was no mention of gluten free options on the menu. Waited. Waited. Staff arrived and asked if was ready to order, I asked for the gluten free menu - "we don't have one". "would you like me to ask what is gluten free?" err, yes please. Waited and waited. Gave up, never mind, I'll have a drink and take it to my room. Asked for a double rum and coke, it arrived, asked to put it on my room - no can do, you need a piece of card from reception. I had my room card, a pre-auth, but no piece of card. No drink. No dinner. Went to reception and complained, asked what time breakfast was served, where and how I could actually get some. It's in the Orangery, from 06:30. Well, it wasn't. It was in the restaurant bar as per the previous night. Door was closed at 6:30, I opened it. Was followed in by several hopeful customers. Coffee was from a flask. Tea was make your own, from hot water in a flask. No gluten free options and after the previous night I knew not to ask. No gluten free cereals, no gluten free bread, the fruit options were minimal, the hot buffet was lukewarm. OK, at least I can leave. Get to reception at 7am, no-one there. A sign on the counter saying call this number if you need someone. I called, someone turns up quickly. "check out please" " yes, that's done, do you need a vat receipt?" " of course" Sorry, the systems are down, you should get an email invoice in two days time. What a joke of a hotel. An absolute farce. I thought perhaps John Cleese was hiding round a corner with a film crew.
