Dark and dingy !

We had booked a "sweet dreams" room with allegedly a better bed and free drinks; that was not what we or anyone else who booked these rooms received. It was a tiny, back room, dark, dingy, with a tiny window over which was a sheer curtain attached to the window frame by velcro! The bathroom is a pod, a unit inside the room that floods and smells like a sewer and we could hear everyone flushing all night (the plumbing is inadequate for the number of rooms)! The Tv was off schedule. The staff had some inadequate members and some who did try.

This hotel is just a 5/6 minute walk from Reading Central Railway Station, and a perfect location for exploring the wider area. Despite me arriving a couple of hours early, I was delighted to have been able to check in to my room by a very helpful member of staff; something that was greatly appreciated! I had requested a low floor, due to me having a problem with heights, and this was duly noted and a room allocated on the first floor. My room was spotless and the walk in shower a blessing as I have an awkward leg that makes a bath difficult to get in and out of. The bed was so very comfortable and allowed me a great two nights sleep, without interruption. Tea and coffee making facilities and a decent work desk made the room feel very liveable. Breakfast was a buffet affair and offered a range of options for hot and cold food alike. Hot drinks were available via a machine and there are jugs of apple and orange juice too. All in all, worthy of the money. There is no other restaurant food at this hotel, although freshly made pizzas 🍕 can be ordered for £9.95 for a 12”, made by the hotel staff. With there being enough eating places in the local area, you won’t starve that’s for sure. Staff are particularly friendly and helpful, especially team members Marta and Gema, who each have great customer service skills, and allowed me to try my few words of Romanian and Spanish respectively. Mulțumesc Marta. Muchos gracias Gema. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone, and will return whenever I’m back in Reading overnight or longer.

Poorly maintained hotel

Having to stay here quite regularly and frankly it’s a bit of a dump. The bedrooms might appear clean but NOTHING works properly. Must have had 9 rooms during my stays and I’m yet to get a working TV. No channels, Just BBC1, or everything but BBC1. Last week the bed was made with torn sheets. Another room had broken plumbing. Rooms smell odd because everyone is Uber Eating and there’s little or no air circulation. “Modernised” rooms have no cupboards or shelves to store pants and socks etc . So , if you don’t want to have your smalls on display expect to live out of your suitcase. The breakfast room is more like a railway station waiting room cafeteria and is very plain. They have the usual things you’d expect to see in a 3 star hotel buffet but quality seems poor

Exellent service. Basic hote rooms but all you need.lSpotless with very friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Breakfast had amazing healthy choice and beautiful breads. Worth staying for breakfast alone. Rooms servic d every day if required

Terrible customer service, they wouldn’t serve me a pizza without cheese even though I’m intolerant to cheese. The reason being “in case I take a photo of it and put it on social media”. When I challenged it saying I had done this many times in many places with no issues she said it was “illegal” to make it for me. Not what you want after a long day in work and you just wanted something to eat. Luckily Dominos were happy to help.
