The Ibis is Coimbra is perfectly situated along the water front, near shops and a short 5 minute walk from the train station. Upon check in the staff was very friendly. In fact, I would say it was one of the best check in experiences I have ever had. The rooms are adequately sized. The air conditioning was perfect and kept me cool during the heat and humidity. Breakfast was good. Overall, no complaints. I loved the Ibis and would return.

I stayed at the hotel on business, we were booked by a business partner. In a word: never again. The room was on the 1st floor. The window was facing the shopping centre, which was more often than not empty. In front of the window dirt from this centre, loud fans of the air conditioning from the centre. The room was still ok, clean, but only one towel for each person. There was a strange smell in the corridor of the hotel and in the room. It was almost impossible to open the window. The reception said that the smell was just the way it was because we were in a two-star hotel. Breakfast: average, coffee average. In the morning you have to tell the reception that you want the room cleaned and towels changed.

The hotel is standard ibis. Staff is nice and speak English. Bar is open 24 hours. Parking is €8. Right now, there is construction by the river blocking views. Staff is great…. I left my purse in the bar, and they called the room to tell me and say they’d keep it at reception. They also helped with map and recommendations for restaurants.

If you are ONLY used to American parking garages, you might be surprised. But take your time, go back and forth a bit, and you'll make it out without a scratch. Rooms were nice and spacious like some of the NY city hotels.

The hotel was cheap and cheerful. The staff were helpful, but not over friendly. The room was small and basic, reflected in the price. The 2 single beds were very narrow , thin matress kept sliding when in the bed, disturbing sleep. Continental breakfast adequate. Parking a problem. Basement car park under hotel. Access very narrow with sharp bends.Scrape marks on the walls where cars have hit the wall on the bends entering. NOT SUITABLE FOR LARGER CARS. My 4x4 scraped the low wall on the bend driving up to exit the car park.
