Good for an airport layover

Comfortable bed and pillows, clean bathroom - good place to get a night of sleep if you have an overnight layover or early morning flight from Amsterdam airport. Breakfast is served early and there are plenty of options - eggs, fruit, yogurt, bread and croissants, vegetables, cheese, coffee.

Refusal to change booked date after a system error.

I had a flight booked for Tuesday morning (26 March) and on Monday (25 March) I went online (on the Ibis website) to make a booking for the evening of the 25th of March. I selected the dates and upon checkout I was asked to enter my username and password. I went through the process of booking a room and only upon confirmation did I realise that the dates had changed (it was changed to the 14th of April - a date I would never have selected as my flight was the 26th of March). I IMMEDIATELY called the hotel to move the booking to the 26th of March. I was told, rudely, that nothing can be done. The booking would have cost more so they can't move the booking. When I said I am happy to pay the difference then I was rudely told but then I can just as well pay the full amount to rebook (we are talking 20 euros in difference vs 130 euros to rebook). No matter how much I explained that I literally JUST paid and there was a system error they kept repeating no refunds. They can ADD dates to my stay but they can't change the date. I then asked for a refund, which, of course, was also denied. I was sent pillar to post and no one could help. EVEN though this was a system problem. I was told I should be more careful next time and that mistakes happen (we all make them I was told) and that this is unfortunate but they cannot accommodate me in anyway. All I wanted was to change the date LITERALLY minutes after I had booked the hotel. I always book at Ibis, so does my family, but I will NEVER again book there because of the poor customer service and because of the unwillingness to help.

Comfortable Stay with Stylish Vibes

While I found the price of water to be exorbitant (3.5 Euro, marked up 7 times the supermarket price), the room itself was comfortable with a spacious bed and a good shower. Surprisingly, the hotel had a more stylish and modern vibe than I had expected from an Ibis property. The convenience of the airport shuttle service was a major plus, especially for solo travelers like myself who were staying for just one night to catch connecting flights to other destinations.

Everything you need from an Airport Hotel

I stayed at the Ibis Schipol for 1 night, as I had an morning flight back home and it was easier to stay closer to the airport, than travel on the day. I had a double room to my self. My room was basic (not much in the way of facilities- it had a Safe, TV, Desk, hanging space), but it was modern and clean. The bed was comfy and there were plenty of power sockets, including by the bed (which is always a bonus). There is free wifi, which was suitable for my needs (just browsing on my phone). The bathroom was like a pod, with a shower (which was bigger than it looked) and was ok. The hotel has a bar, which served a good selection of drinks and restaurant. I did have breakfast, which was buffer style and filled a gap. The restaurant opens at 4am, which is good, as we could have breakfast before we left, rather than pay a bit more in the airport. Staff were friendly and helpful and we were able to check in 2 hours early, as we joined the loyalty scheme (which didnt cost anything). The shuttle bus runs at different frequencies during the day (sometimes it was 3-4 an hour and other times 1 an hour, but the times did seem pretty accurate). There isnt much in the local area, other than a bus station, so I used the shuttle to get to and from Schiphol airport train station, to get into Amsterdam and there were no issues. It took about 20mins to the airport in the day, as we had to pick up from another Ibis Hotel a bit further away from this one and the budget one. But it was quicker in the morning, when it was only us and the Ibis Budget guests. I don't have many expectations from an Airport hotel, other than a clean and comfy room. But I found that this hotel surpassed my expectations and will definitely stay here again. if I have an early flight out of Schiphol.
