DO NOT STAY HERE. We booked via the Novotel main website. This is a disgrace to be called a Novotel. We have just spent two weeks travelling through France and Spain staying in several Novotel hotels (Barcelona was excellent) and were on our way back to Calais. We lasted approximately 5 mins in our room before handing in our keys and checking straight out. I wouldn’t have expected this substandard from an IBIS Budget. It was less than 2* quality. Basically a roadside motel in the wrong part of town with zero resemblance to the photos portrayed on the website. And to think I was fooled into spending more money online for “superior” rooms. I will be cancelling my all.com frequent user membership. I simply can’t trust another Novotel hotel ever again. €230 wasted. I’m currently driving to Calais with a car full of disgruntled children and wife for a re arranged 3am crossing

The outside of the hotel is dirty and uninviting. The main sign hasn't been cleaned in months and the path to the main door is dangerous and impossible to wheel a suitcase over? A small thing but seriously! Inside the main areas were clean and the restaurant wasnt bad ) no beef or veal on the menu which as the first table on a Saturday evening was poor. The toilets near reception were filthy and they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks, plaster coming off the walls in the cubicle and dirty walls. Such a difference from the restaurant and communal areas. A lift that could only take 2 people - again not a huge issue but as a family annoying. The staff were very pleasant but someone needs to look at it with fresh eyes and focus on the basics of the user experience.

I use Accor group because of their reputation. Le Mans needs a better housekeeper. Superior room had net curtains hanging off the rail in several places and the windows were filthy. No tissues first night and just enough shampoo in shower for one of us to use. The bathroom had the holes in the wall where the hooks should have been and there was no full length mirror. Restaurant ok...first time no hard copy menus...you had to use a QR code to find them...but they were written on blackboards if you did not have a smartphone and owing to the number of times I saw the boards being taken to tables, that encompassed a lot of people. Breakfast good in supplies, but lots of ingrained dirt round the coffe machine base...legacy of quick and not effective cleaning.

Average stay, poor service in restaurant

Average hotel, rooms were ok, beds comfy but a very expensive restaurant for very average food and really poor service, Really just a stop off hotel for long drive to south of France. Ok for one night but eat elsewhere.

We stayed at this hotel twice within 10 days, on outward and inward legs of our vacation. We found check in process to be somewhat disjointed, we completed online check in but that made no difference to the speed at check in, it always used to. My wife was extremely disappointed at the availability of gluten free food in the restaurant. On first leg she was advised that the frites were gluten free, on the return leg she was advised that they were not as same fryer used for gluten products. Simple fix your hotels should install a separate fryer.
