Excellent location, close to various restaurants, the train station, trams and the mattress and pillows were excellent. I just did not like that they only served breakfast. Wifi was generally weak, rooms quite small and the housekeeping was not very consistent. in my ten day stay 3 days my room was not cleaned despite being out of the room by 8am. I enjoyed my stay there.

The location of this hotel is really good, located at the right of the Melbourne CBD and around 6-7 minutes from Southern Cross Station. With a price around AUD$100 for a twin room, this hotel is located in a superb location. Staff are friendly , while the only downside is the room is a bit outdated, and the bathroom only provide 2 in 1 wash, would be better if have body wash and shampoo.

The hotel is situated in a very convenient city centre location, the rooms are small but clean and the mattresses and pillows are very comfortable. Overall good value for money and we would stay again. Downside was street noise, we were on top floor (6) so it was ok, but I would request room away from the street. Also, there was a lack of communication between Booking.com and the hotel and the receptionist was very confused but we got sorted in the end. At all times, email communication with the hotel was very good. If I was booking through 3rd party in future, I would back it up with email confirmation to hotel directly.

There are much better places to stay

If you’re not familiar with Melbourne, this hotel is located amongst the ‘Gentlemen’s clubs’ so be aware that if you’re walking back late from the tennis then there will be a lot of sleazy people around. It’s located close to southern cross, trams, woolies metro and some nice cafes. If you’re unlucky to get a room on the street, bring your ear plugs as it’s like sleeping next to a highway full of trucks. The place needs double glazed windows, working lifts and a major upgrade to bring it up to 3 star standard.

Great location and friendly staff

We stayed here for 5 nights and initially booked via booking.com but found a better rate going direct. Pros The staff were super friendly and even managed to check us in early after we arrived . The double bed rooms were cosy but not too cramped, and tea, coffee and milk, etc, were provided. Our first room on the 6th floor was good with lots of light but we had to move when we realised that the TV was broken. The location is great, so it is easy to walk or pick up trams to various locations. Breakfast was okay, we stuck with the continental free one and found we had more than enough. Good selection of cereal, breads and yoghurt, fruits etc with nice tea and coffee. Cons The second room on the first floor had no natural light and was next to a very noisy family with small kids. Housekeeping was hit and miss. Towels always got changed and bed made. But our room had no bin, and so we left rubbish on the desk to be taken away, but over 4 days, it never was. 1 flat pillow per guest seemed stingy.
