We can probably all agree that the infrastructure in "Old Cairo" is nothing special. Roads, buildings, streets are not kept particularly clean/new. But the Sofitel is meant to be a luxury hotel from an international chain, and I would expect someone from HQ comes and visits every once in a while to check on the facilities... Because the rooms and corridors are really old/dated. Change the carpets, do a bit of a paint job here and there, maybe update the curtains and decor... bring this hotel to 2024 please. If you want to open the balcony in your room you need to call reception. Breakfast was frankly underwhelming. The pool area and restaurants close to the Nile are pleasant, however stay away when the light up the BBQ or you will be smoked out of the area as the stench quickly swipes the entire pool area. The "pledge" against Child abuse and trafficking makes for interesting reading in the elevator, but probably best placed elsewhere as it also led to awkward conversations with our little ones. There's no chance I would return to this hotel, there must be a better option in Cairo

Very nice room in a great hotel with high standard services. Breakfast is also at a high quality level with so many fresh and home cooked products. But it is a pity that restaurants of the hotel are so poor and far too much expensive. This was a bad experience.

Amazing stay with excellent attention to details. The team went the extra mile to keep my boys and family happy. The restaurants were great with tasty and delicious food selection. The view over the Nile is exceptional one of the best in Cairo!

We have stayed at this hotel several times during our holiday and whilst the staff are very attentive it’s not quite the normal feel of a Sofitel. It is however not at its best right now as several renovations are underway so no pool and a section of the outdoor area is closed off. Wine knowledge of staff is lacking and some local wines on offer are not good at all. However they arranged great drivers and tour guide for us. So it was a mixed bag. Make sure you are ready for the pre-authorisation which is quite large 350 - 750 USD when rooms are already paid for and that takes weeks to clear from your credit card… I’m still waiting more than 2 weeks later.

My experience in Sofitel Nile El Gezirah was awesome. Everything was perfect. At the Check-in, Natalie and Yasmin were very friendly and helpful, making it easy as I was very tired from the long trip. The room was also perfect, very clean, huge anda had a a lovely view from the Nile. There were gym and pool which were awesome too! The hotel itself is marvelous. The staff were great! I really enjoyed it and hope to come back soon!
