My Favourite Adelaide Hotel

I've been staying here for over twenty years and it's without doubt my favourite hotel. I love the ambience and special touches (self-service refreshment at reception, chocolates on my pillow) and the friendly, welcoming staff. The rooms are spacious and luxe (we recently stayed in an opulent two bedroom suite) with pillow menus, fluffy quilts, big TV's, tempting mini-bars and coffee pod machines. The heated pool and spa downstairs are fantastic and the gym is the real deal. The Playford is ideally located, right opposite Adelaide Train Station and a short walk to Rundle Mall. I recommend the Gnocchi at the Luma Restaurant near the lobby. Can't wait to book my next stay.

Stayed in loft room. Not all have powder room on upper level with bedroom, so clarify your needs when booking. If you don't like stairs, then this room won't be for you. Great space. Lovely and clean. We had an issue on first night. When I reported to staff, we were moved straight away. This was a stress free move, due to the great staff and manager onsite. Bed was great in both rooms. Food was delicious (both breakfast and dinner). We moved onto the bar area for a nightcap and the bartender was also friendly and inviting. I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed at multiple hotels over our 10 day holiday from Adelaide to Perth to Busselton WA. This was by far the best accomodation.

Overpriced night at the Playford

The Playford was a three-star hotel masquerading as a five-star hotel. Most rooms are cheap and unsanitary and face either a back alley or the parking lot next door. As soon as we walked into the room, it reeked of cigarette smoke and dust. The bed was even more uncomfortable, and both the sheets and couch in our room had stains and holes in them. The room service menu featured tea, chicken soup, and a cheese plate. For the price tag you are much better off slumming it a cheap hotel for a quarter of the price or upgrading the Sofitel down the street. Overall, would not recommend and would highly advise no one to stay here.

A brilliant loft room with all the conveniences, a great breakfast and sumptuous dinner, tempting cocktails in the bar and a level of service that would be tough to top. Yes, we enjoyed it. Very much. Highly recommended for business people and tourists, as many of the places you'll want to see are all within walking distance.

Modern hotel in a good location near to the railway station and a short walk to the River Torrens. The Botanical Garden is around 30mins walk or a few mins on the free regular trams. Also near the Adelaide Oval cricket ground and stadium. Good sized room with all required facilities Very helpful and knowledgeable reception staff. Very good buffet breakfast Enjoyed one dinner (excellent duck) at the hotel but found the loud live music by guitarist and singer irritating. Nice bar area If returning to Adelaide we would definitely consider staying here again.
