I didn't enjooy in novotel Avignon

I didn't enjoy this hotel. It is a big hotel for groups without any personal attitude. The breakfast is very poor. The Gym is really poor and it is quite far from the center. The advangae is that it is near the train station (not the TJV). There is a small swiming pool I didn't use it.

The location is perfect, with its own parking. Rooms are 25 Sam, a reasonable size, walking distance to the center, environment friendly and easy going. Heavy duvet blankets in the warm season is overdone. Ideal for visiting Avignon the House of Popes, the famous bridge etc

Located directly across from the wall. Train nearby. Easy underground parking in the rear of the building. Staff were friendly & helpful. Room was clean. Rooms and hallways are a bit dark but normal for the location. Carpet in rooms. Nice lounge/restaurant area. Comfortable bed. Handheld shower.

We stayed at the hotel for some business meetings. The location is outside the city walls so it is a bit of a walk to the sites of interest. The front desk very nice and helpful. The pool was great since it was hot the week we stayed at the hotel. Breakfast was nice.

Beware when ordering a taxi at this hotel

Reasonable stay spoilt by bad experience. Booked a taxi with receptionist on night of 16/9 to take us to TGV station next morning at 7:15am. When taxi hadn’t arrived, I asked reception to please check and was told their colleague hadn’t booked last night as requested so she’d book another. While I was waiting outside a private vehicle pulled up and a woman driver walked inside. Then a taxi pulled up and said he was free. Before I could get in, the receptionist indicated the private car was what she had ordered and we should use that. A less than 10 minute drive cost 26 euros when it should have been 10-15 euros at most. When I called the receptionist back she said her colleague was always messing up and they’d spoken to her. When I replied that was not my point, rather that I’d ordered a taxi not a limousine and wanted to speak to the manager, I was told they were away that day. The money is not so much the issue even though it was exorbitant. It’s more that I feel cheated and suspect there’s some scam operating. I have still not received a call from the hotel to properly explain. A sad ending to a reasonable hotel stay. Beware fellow travellers!
