Great location, clean hotel, poor check-in and parking experience

My family and I had already stayed at this hotel a few years back so we were already aware of the great location. The Hotel room was standard for Ibis Budget so we got what was expected. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The check-in experience was not a good one. I had allready done the check-in online process and when I went in to the automated kiosk at the entrance my reservation numbe was not recongnized. No code to be able to enter the building / room / parking areas was sent to me in advance. We tried several times and it was not possible. There was a button with a speaker to be able to speak to someone in case of any issues and the sound quality was very poor, we could hardly understand each other and we were not able to resolve the issue. Luckilly the receptionist, who was already leaving for the day, saw us and got us checked-in, despite the fact that it was already beyond her regular work hours. Also, parking was very difficult if you arrived at the hotel late in the evening. There were some people who had parked their cars poorly. The location is close enough to Amboise to have a quick drive in to the main tourist spots in Amboise proper, it ir very close to the Chanteloup Pagoda and a short drive to the Chateau de Chenonceau. A perfect stop for visiting the Loire Valley Castles. It woudl be good to have better pillows for a better night's sleep.

Standard ibis budget hotel: nothing really stands except for there is a self-check-in counter. it far forms the city centre so you would need to drive into the city. of course, there is free wifi and parking

It's a standard Ibis Budget quality hotel: nothing more, nothing less. The position isn't very good, because it isn't close to the city centre and you must reach it by car. Price low, but breakfast isn't included.

PlusKey needs: standard of the bed, standard of bedding, standard of ventilationKey needs met, and I slept well. MinusAccess impersonal and electronic. Decor non-existent. Carpet basic. Ditto washing facilitiesOverall - good value for what I was after, butno surprises.

We stayed one night in this hotel on our way down to the south of France. The accommodation was clean but basic with a washbasin in the room itself rather than in a separate bathroom. There was no restaurant in the hotel, which I knew before booking, but I had noted that there was a Novotel with a restaurant next door to the Ibis. I was informed at the Ibis Budget reception that the Novotel restaurant was fully booked so we had to take the car and drive to the centre of Amboise, some distance away, to find a restaurant for our evening meal.
