Swimming pool closed in August

We booked this hotel specifically for my children to use the swimming pool. We stayed for three days in August and we were not allowed to use the pool, because there was no lifeguard available! This happened not once, but the pool was closed three days in a row. So, if you consider booking this hotel, don't! Book yourself a cheaper, more central hotel without a swimming pool.

Not inclusive hotel

Hotel not inclusive for people with motor disability since all hotel rooms have bathtub. It was necessary to insist twice in reception to have a bathtub with hand support! The shampoo was mixed with water

This hotel us very clise to the sea very clean and has great staff.The rooms have ample space and there us a bath with overhead shower.The only downside is its not close to station etc but supermarket is close by but you literally take your life in yoyr hands trying to cross the busy rosds.italuans seem to have no concept of zebra crossings being there for pedestruans.Theres a lovely restaurant called the gourmet bar whefe we served the freshest fish with delicious vegetables and a faboys tiramasu for dessert.very reasonable cost excellent service highly recommend

The hotel was clean, comfortable and well located and had a large car park so was perfect for us. In 10 minutes you can walk to good restaurants and accessible free beaches. There is also a supermarket across the road Breakfast was good, with lots of choice and the staff were incredibly friendly. The only negative point was the swimming pool was very cold, with is a very minor detail

We had one of the worst hotel experiences at Novotel in Salerno. The hotel is very dated and about 15 min outside the city by car. When we checked in, the AC was not working in our room, and the room was about 30 degrees (it was July). The safe was missing 1 AA battery and would not work. When we asked for a AA battery, we were refused and they told us we had to wait 1 day to get a single battery. A maintenance man came to reset the breaker for the AC, and it stopped working again after 10 minutes. At this point we requested a new room. We were initially given a handicap room and asked Julia to make our 2nd room a non-handicap room because the shower head is 3 feet high and can't be raised, and you have to be on your knees to wash your upper torso or hair. She lied to us, and gave us another handicap room again on the first floor, saying there was no other room available. At night while getting read for bed, WE SAW TWO RATS IN THE ROOM! Giuseppe, the hotel employee who covered the night shift, came up and saw the rat himself, and moved us to a different standard room ). My parents also heard scratching and gnawing in their room, and they had to be moved at 1:30am. The last thing we wanted to do was to repack all our bags, deal with a rat infestation, and move hotel rooms for a third time at 1:30am. We were both traumatized and got no sleep that night. This absolutely ruined our next day which was our only 1 full day to enjoy the Amalfi coast with our family. The next day our door malfunctioned and we could not get inside for 40 minutes, and had to go up/down 3 times, which lead to us almost missing a tour. Despite the rats and other issues the manager never contacted us, there was no apologies. The indifference of the hotel was not just disappointing, it was insulting. As it was July in Italy near the Amalfi coast we could not find an easy last minute alternative in the area even though we were dying to leave. The manager, never made any contact with us, and I had to specifically request to speak with him via email and staff, which is absolutely inexcusable given our experiences. Our experience was absolutely traumatizing, and the response of the hotel was horrible.
