Small, hot and disappointing.

Not great to be honest. Front desk staff were nice and quite helpful. The "double" room we stayed in should have been a SINGLE. Fairly good view of the river and one of the bridges. Room service the first night was good however the next night we just managed to order a plate of chips and then we were told the kitchen had already closed at 10.20pm even though the hotel information clearly states that room service is 24 hours. When we asked the front desk about it the next morning and they first of all confirmed that room service operates on a 24-hour basis and then when we told them we were refused room service they said "ohh the kitchen closes at 10.30!". Bathroom small, shower pressure not great, the water temperature was just warm. However by good fortune, on the last morning the temperature was nice and hot. Housekeeping lack attention to detail - teas and coffees were not replenished. We had to pay for the hotel upon arrival, then had to pay for room service in the room even though we had lodged credit card details with reception. AC was non existent - spent 3 sweaty nights with the window open. Fan/AC just blows hot air - you cant even turn it off. The best thing about the hotel was the location. All in all, a very disappointing stay at Novotel - definitely not up to the standard of other Novotel Hotels I have stayed at. Budapest is a lovely place to visit - would love to visit again - will just stay in a different hotel.

Great location to explore the city

Great location and friendly atmosphere. I arrived early morning but my room was ready and could do the check in. My room was facing the Hungarian Parliament which is beautiful all day long. Clean room and nice friendly staff. Easy to explore the city.

First time in Budapest. 5 night stay. Picked the wrong hotel.

It's my first trip to Budapest and I'm currently staying here for 5 nights. I booked a Jr. Suite room with a view of the Parliament. The view is good and the staff at the restaurant are nice but that's it. The front desk staff is not pleasant or helpful. I wasn't expecting American style hospitality or Asian efficiency but you would walk up the front desk and they wouldn't acknowledge you until you spoke. A simple request for some ice at night was denied saying he couldn't get it for me because the restaurant is closed. I pointed out that the website, menu, in-room menu and app all list items available for 24 hours. He told me it was not possible. In-room climate control doesn't exist. You can set the thermostat to whatever temperature you want but it doesn't matter. You can either have the fan on or off. Housekeeping is not thorough and there's really nothing around as far as nice restaurants. If I wasn't leaving in two days I'd switch to another hotel and eat the cost. This is not a 4 star hotel. It is at best a 3 star hotel with budget hotel service.

Convenient location, avoid rooms facing the hotel yard

Location is convenient, within walking distance to the tram stop and Batthány tér metro station... It's in the Buda side, facing River Danube with a good view of the Hungarian Parliament House across the River. The room is clean but alittle dated, the water pressure is weak for the shower, the bedside tables are too small for practical use and TV is small too. Our room was facing a yard where we can hear their working staff talk very loudly starting from 6am in the morning! Loud bangs/noises caused by moving trolleys, loading and unloading from vehicles are definitely unpleasant for the affected hotel guests. We stayed 4 nights here before moving to another hotel further down the same street and we prefer the latter.

They charged me for 2 nights of parking when I didn't rent any car during my stay

I discovered 2 unfamiliar charges from the hotel at the day we checked out, after asking them on mail, they told me that they charged me for two nights of parking, when I didn't rent any car during my stay and no one told me that they gonna charge me. this review will be here until they will refund me!
