Budget hotel - fell short on basics

Went with hubby for a quick romantic getaway to Milan & Lake Como. Loation is convenient enough as near main trainline and lots of parking if you drive. Very industrial area so not massively walkable & little in the way of immediate amenities. Grandate is not that close to Lake Como but a simple enough train ride away. In hindsight I would've researched this and booked a more local hotel - but bought a last minute package from wowcher. Hotel staff were lovely & hotel let us stash cases on last day to make the most of our time which was a bonus. Room was ok sizewise - bit grubby - hair in shower/brown marks on toilet which was a bit of a let down. Do expect cleanliness even in budget hotels. Bed was awful which is why this gets a poor rating - pillows & 'mattress' were like second hand prison goods & sheets def seen better days. Would not return & would recommend to stay closer to main areas Como/Milan etc.

A typical Ibis, offering friendly service, basic rooms, free parking, comfortable beds. Decent but hectic breakfast - I just wish there could be more healthy choices and fresh juices. The location is not ideal, with Como still some distance away and the local environs a bit industrial. On the plus side a decent pizzeria was about 5 mins walk away. This was a good choice for an overnight business trip or in transit, but wouldn’t be my first choice if I was away with my family for a week.

Location was great, very quiet area with a nice selection of restaurants and shops nearby (Including a massive supermarket). Not in the center of Como but excellent transport options into the city centre. Room was very clean and comfortable, everything was maintained great, Dalila at Reception was a star, so friendly, nothing was ever too much, and gave us so many ideas of what to do!! The Christmas markets were great, Brunate was a highlight for us. Thank you for the wonderful stay <3 I will be back!

Wonderful stay at the IBIS Como

We stayed at IBIS Como for 4 nights. It was a wonderful stay. The rooms are clean, the breakfasts were excellent and the staff/service was exceptional. Laura who looked after breakfasts, Claudia and Lorenzo in reception and Yosra who worked in the restaurant section provided excellent service.

Felt ripped off. Bad experience...

We arrived 22:00 at night with two kids. Friendly staff at the reception informs us that you are not allowed to sleep in one room with both kids. Info was apparently available for us to read beforehand. Checked it - small note at the end of a long E-Mail. The kind of additional information that you are not supposed to read. Staff is apparently trained to take advantage of the situation and sell an addl. room at almost the maximum rate (14€ discount, still an addl. 84€). Reception sill friendly though, but who cares after that upselling procedure? Result: Paid 150€+ for a ridiculous customer experience and even one room with bad smell from bathroom. Cannot recommend.
