Great location and comfortable except two poor issues

Stayed two nights with my two sons . After check in we went to our allocated room on the first floor to discover our very small room with 1. a twin bed set up and the smallest couch conversion into a bed as the third bed in the room. The length of this was way shorter than my son - ie. totally inadequate. 2. No operating air conditioning & an extraction fan positioned immediately outside the only opening window. Again not ideal 3. Not enough room to even lay down two suitcases , let alone three After discussions with the front desk, we were re-allocated a proper family room with three beds that could fit us very comfortably and a window not immediately impacted by an exhaust fan. The beds, bath, & room was very comfy. There was one other issue with our stay . On the second evening at 1130pm, we were awoken by another group that were accidentally also allocated our room….. some mistake! Quite a shock having someone walk in and turn on your lights at this time! Up to you to decide if this is a security problem! That reminds me to deadlock the front door! The hotel would have received 5 stars If 1. the initial experience of a totally inadequate room which the hotel attempts to fob off as a family room / triple and 2. A third party also being allocated your room in the middle of the night & waking you up .

Final stay on our WW1 Battlefield tour. Not a huge choice of accommodation available in the town particularly as we were looking for 2 rooms and dog friendly, but that may have been because we arrived on the eve of the Ghent - Wevelgem Cycle race which was starting in Ypres the following day. The centrally located Novotel did fit the bill for us. The rooms we had (Superior Double Rooms) were big and well equipped (tea and coffee available in room - the latter with a good coffee machine). Separate rooms for shower and toilet. There was a small fridge with free water. No parking, but there is parking about 50 metres away around a church with 1st two hours free and free after 18.00 and Sundays. Did not try breakfast seemed v expensive, but there was a very good bakery just around the corner on the Grote Markt.

Brilliant hotel to stay in which is close to the Menin Gate. Our room was very quiet, very clean, spacious with very comfortable beds. Bedding & towels were of great quality. The room is tastefully decorated & well equipped with kettle/coffee facilities. We stayed on a room only basis as breakfast was too expensive for us personally. Brilliant location for the museum & restaurants.

Central Location in Ypres with parking nearby.

Great location, near the Cloth Market and the Menin Gate. Modern Hotel. With friendly staff. Good advice on where to park locally. Room was a good size and clean. We didn’t eat at the hotel, bar service was good. You have to pay local taxes at the hotel, but these are not expensive.

Currently staying at this hotel for 2 nights. so far less than impressed. Firstly The breakfast buffet at €35 per person is way overpriced, and poor quality, I regret paying for it now. We returned earlier ( 1st August)from a full day visiting various sites only to enter the room and thought, 'oh, cleaners haven't been in yet'- bed looked unmade, bathroom not cleaned, as the sink still contained material from cleaning teeth. coffee pods not replaced, milk and cups not replaced, overall utterly disappointed. We have complained to reception, who say a manager is unavailable. We've travelled round Europe the last 2 weeks, this is the first hotel we've had a problem with.

Dear guest, we are sorry to hear you had an unpleasant visit with us. I checked our housekeeping lists from the 1st of August and I see my staff has given the ok for your room at 4pm. Our housekeeping staff works until 16.15, but since we did not have a request for an early clean it is possible that it was done in the late afternoon. Can you confirm someone did eventually stopped by and cleaned everything for you? The breakfast is 25 euro per person and is a full (al you can eat) continental breakfast, we believe we have a big assortment on hot and cold choices. Complaint are always taken seriously and while we, management, are not always available, my staff should always give our mailadress if you want to keep in contact with us. Again, our sincerest apologies we did not meet your expectations. I hope you visit us again and we can be of better service! kind regards, Julie - team Novotel
