No comments. Almost everything was perfect. Restaurant with breakfast. Room silently. Welcome room. Free drink at the entrance. The only negative point is the high value of the parking wallet, 55 dollars.

Complete Nightmare

Birthday trip ruined by a hotel that I had stayed at over a dozen times, even in other cities. Never again. I was not informed of a large renovation project that has closed the lobby and the front entrance. I'm staying at a 4 star hotel, I was excited for room service. Nope, no one answers phone. I don't even know how I'm going to get out of the hotel, there's no way out except a weird side door. How do I get out of there and get an uber with all my bags? My phone is broken, my TV is broken, my tub is broken, there's no fridge except a mini fridge that no one has refilled. My room was cleaned once, otherwise by me. I have had a better experience at a Holiday Inn.

Worst Return Experience

I had previously stayed at Sofitel Philadelphia around 6 years back. As I could recall, it was a great experience then, and the location was just perfect, hence the return booking this time. I even went to book for the Suite option for even better trip this time. However, much more was to be expected. The hotel is under rennovation, which had been communicated via email prior to the arrival, so I did not mind going to the second floor for check-in. It was annoying to have the front door not working properly at the hotel entrance though — the door could not open automatically some mornings, and the staff (when noticed), had to manually pushed the door for the guests to come out. The furniture at the “make-shift” reception room was old and tired - I would recommend a change, especially for such a first impression. On my first day, when I entered the first given room, I had to run back down to reception asking for a different room — it was raked with marijuana smoke! As a healthcare professional, thay was unimaginable! I was quickly switched to a room, but also to note I was not provided any information on hotel amenities by the check-in staff at all. I found the person behind the texting answering service (Mera) to be more helpful. On my second day, after returning from a long work day, I came to find my room not having been serviced. No trash taken out, no sheets changed, no refill of water. I had not placed a “Do Not Disturbed” sign, so I did not know why the room was not serviced. Unfortunately, it was after hours so I was only able to receive sheets and towels to change. Overall, I found this visit very disappointing. I hope with the remodel being done, the staff will be more attentive and deliver great service.

Wonderful hotel, great room, superb service

My wife and I came to Philadelphia just for a few days to see the historic sites and generally look around. The front desk staff were prompt, courteous and effective. The concierge was amazingly helpful and pretty accurate in his recommendations. Our suite was quite comfortable, very well equipped, and spacious (about 600 sf). Breakfast at the restaurant was the best we have ever had. Do try the croque madame, and don't miss the croissants. The French aspects of the hotel are a definite plus. Except a moment when bellman services were behind, the service is above and beyond. While much ado was made about the current lobby renovation in reviews we had seen before arriving, it really is a nothingburger. Yes, when you enter from 17th street the lobby is walled off and you need to ascend in an elevator to the temporary second floor lobby, but that really is a negligible issue. We certainly didn't hear any noise in our suite. Moreover, the location is excellent and the prices were quite reasonable. Overall, a great experience. We'll look to Sofitel in other cities going forward.

Luxury with Reservations

Excellent hotel except for makeup mirror in bathroom which was placed too high to be accessible. Breakfast on weekdays was inedible. I asked for soft scrambled eggs and was served hard scrambled eggs that I could not eat. The sausage patty was oversalted and the diced potatoes overseasoned. The croissant, juice and coffee were the only items that I enjoyed on the menu.
