I arrived 9am, accepting that the room was not ready. I returned at 10pm after a full day of meetings. At 11pm, there was incessant knocking (2 solid minutes) on a door down the hall, accompanied by loud conversation, and a small horde of people wandering the halls. At 11:10 they left. 11:35 same sequence, but just 4 people making the noise of 20. 12:10 same sequence, but just 3 people making the noise of 8. 1:10am same sequence - call down to front desk to complain. Check out 5:45am - front desk asks how was my stay?...i asked if he wanted the truth - he was gracious enough to listen and show empathy....he tried calling his superior to see if there was something that they could do with the bill. In the end, I was offered a simple upgrade on my next stay. Similar to when I found a cockroach in my salad at a high end restaurant, they offered my next meal with a free appetizer, which was also a weak response, I said, "Why would i come back when you serve cockroaches as appetizers?" A free upgrade is something you do to WOW a customer, not compensate for a less than satisfactory, inferior stay. I ended up with less than 5 hrs sleep, before flying to my next destination for another full day of meetings. To the manager, your response was "weak".

Sad stay at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Hotel location is great, but the enjoyment stopped there. Two nights exposed issues with multiple parts of our stay. On night one, we went search for an ice machine on our floor only to find it broken. Next, we checked the floor above and below only to find them broken as well. When we called down to the front desk and explained that all the ice makers were broken, staff told us they couldn’t help and That we should keep trying other floors. Not a big deal, but thought we might get some help after alerting staff of multiple broken machines. After our ice exploration, we hoped to settle down in our room only to find it unbearably warm. Our rooms thermostat was set to 73 degrees and regardless of what we did, continued to blow hot air into our room. Despite a 40 degree night, opening our window, and getting the hotels last fan, our room stayed at an uncomfortable 73-75 degrees. I couldn’t imagine staying here in Vancouvers summer months without AC.

Front staff was welcoming. Diana was very friendly and helpful. Ann answered multiple questions. Neil was patient with my kids asking for water and questions about the dogs. Everyone made us feel like we belonged there
