Worst Amex platinum fine hotel I’ve ever booked

TripAdvisor rating 2.0/5

lovesvacation97 Friends getaway - TripAdvisor review

Booked through Amex platinum fine hotels 4/11-414. Upon checked in front desk person cold and lifeless- no greetings. I asked for upgrade availability and flat out said no without looking. Ok fine- then gave us an old room at 6th floor that has moldy toilet, shower tiles. No shower gel and tissues replaced for 3 days. Toilet paper was rough and cheap. Next day I addressed the toilet mold and front desk said I’ll take care of it and didn’t even look at the pictures I took. It seemed like he just wants to brush me off. Needless to say, it was not taken care of. We had breakfast at the hotel lobby and food was poor quality. Corned beef hash was horrible and server served the food with his thumb inside the plate next to the food! Thank goodness I had the $100 food credit otherwise this is not worth it! The night before check out, I went to front desk and informed them that I will be checking out at 3pm. He looked at my room and said, I can only stay till 1 pm without charge. I said to him that I have a guaranteed late checkout till 4pm through Amex fine hotel reservations and never had a problem. He said as a courtesy , I’ll do it. I’m appalled that he didn’t know the late check out guarantee. Upon checkout, front desk asked how was everything and I said not so good. He didn’t acknowledged nor asked why . Same person that checked me in. Still unfriendly. On my bill, they charged me $75 for 3 nights for urban experience. Through my Amex reservation it was written $60 for 3 nights due upon checkout. I’m just so tired that I didn’t even address it. I will never stay here again - unfriendly / unhappy staff, cleanliness was an issue and lackluster hotel .

Was at the hotel for a conference. Never stayed in a 4 star hotel before and will not go out of my way to stay at one again. This hotel is for rich people who don't mind getting nickled and dimed. No vending machines, microwave, or fridge forcing you use their overpriced resturaunt in the lobby or roomservice. I ended up eating out each meal and there are plenty of walkable options, but leftovers went bad. They left weird snacks in my hotel room and wanted 16 dollars for the gummy bears (and other snacks) in my room that I did not ask for so it really shouldn't have even been there. Bed was soft and comfortable. Hotel updated, but still had an old building feel. Mold in the soap holding area in the shower. I've been to much nicer and more comfortable cheaper hotels that even offer breakfast and free coffee. Here eggs are $20 and a large coffee is $6-7 which surpasses even starbucks specialty drinks.

Your Urban Experience may v ary

iowastate89 TripAdvisor review

I've stayed here for 20+ years, this last trip I experienced the tagged on $25 "urban experience fee" (or whatever it is called). Fairmont being sneaky about adding that on, and then the supposed "benefits" did not apply to my meals I ate there anyways. Just give me the up front bill and don't turn into the airlines please. Staff has always been good, if a little cool (that's fine, I'll take professional over anything else). The perfectly fine restaurant is being constructed, so only the lobby area serves as a restaurant. Yet they still billed me daily 25 extra bucks, maybe that was my "urban experience". C'mon Fairmont you are better than this

Good experience but mixed up rooms

Jaime V TripAdvisor review

This hotel is very beautiful and clean, but they mixed up my room type. I had booked a room with a King size and I got a queen sized bed. My stay was otherwise pretty nice. There is no free breakfast though, so be warned that sites like Expedia can lie.
