After having a bad experience at this hotel in June 2023 thanks to booking.com... I decided this time to book direct with the hotel and stayed for 1 night on Friday 12th April. I booked the family room (with 2 beds) for extra space, instead we got a better room. The staff were friendly and helpful as always. The food was amazing as always, although the desserts were not the best and need a little bit of work. Went in the pool and jacuzzi and was amazing. Beds were comfy and my partner loved the fact the room had a bath so she could have a soak. The breakfast was amazing. The woman explained that normally it would be a buffet breakfast, but as there were only a few guests staying, the fry up would come direct from the kitchen. This was awesome as it meant the food was hot and fresh. There was also plenty of other food on offer for breakfast if you didn't want the hot food. All in all, it was an awesome time and we will be booking again in the next few months. If you are just looking for a quiet night away from the kids or even stopping overnight while passing through the area, this is the place to stay. 12 out of 10 in my opinion.

Hotel very nice room with everything we needed, bar had a good selection of beers and food was very good, one complaint was some meals on the menu were only available at certain times which takes away a few extra choices, disappointed with the golf this was one of the reasons we booked for our stag weekend golf course was closed and according to our organisers we couldn't get our money back very disappointed by this and would make me think twice before booking again which for the hotel is a shame.

Thank you for your kind review. During the off-peak season, our golf breaks are discounted as there is always a risk that wet weather could spoil the fun! We would always offer to rebook the golf element so that you do not lose out, but please be assured our Peak Season golf is very rarely rained off

It was a very good price for the room. Clean and spacious. Comfortable bed, and drinks were in the fridge, good coffee maker was there. We chose the hotel only to enjoy swimming, however the swimming pool looked dirty and didn't smell clean either. We didn't swim there very long, but we had a stomach ache later.

We record pool tests multiple times per day and corrective action taken where necessary. I am sorry to hear that you had a stomach ache, however, particularly without any other guests making the same complaint, we are confident this would not be related to our pool

We absolutely loved our stay at the George Washington. The sole reason for not giving 10 was the leisure facilities. The pool area was a huge disappointment for a hotel the size of The George Washington. With more than 2 in the pool it was simply impossible to swim. The length of the pool was disappointing too. The hotel would be immeasurably improved should it get a new pool area where multiple users can use facilities at same time and swim a decent length (at least 15to 20m). It was such a shame because otherwise our stay was perfect. Wonderfully helpful desk staff, gorgeous comfortable room, beautiful food. Excellent check out time. Despite the disappointing leisure facilities we'd definitely recommend and revisit.
