The staff of SO Vienna were so helpful and friendly. The room was spacious but unfortunately the mattress and pillow were the most uncomfortable we've ever experienced.

I stay in hotels 60 nights or so a year all over the world for a mix of business and pleasure. I’m a big fan of the Sofitel brand of service, comfort, hospitality and attention to detail…. This hotel doesn’t have it. Recognizing that this is a more ‘youthful’ branding attempt perhaps it still misses the mark in several areas. 1. The entry/greeting- there is really no defined check-in area rather 2 circular millwork pieces that seem to be plopped down in the middle of a large space staffed by a very young, seemingly inexperienced group who, to my experience with Sofitel and Accor upper range properties, do not understand how to interact professionally with guests. Little things like no offer of help with bags, explaining hotel amenities etc were missed. 2. The hotel itself looks and smells like an upscale Ibis property not a hotel commanding this price point. 3. The noise in the rooms. It may have just been my room but it was noisy. I had to live with noise from the restaurant above me at all times that it was open and noise between rooms (yes I did bring this to someone’s attention after the first night but I am not one to press an issue and the teenager working at the checkin orb was totally disinterested in my feedback. 4. The restaurant staff suffer from the same lack of training and respect as the check-in staff. Overall this would have been a great experience if this were an IBIS hotel but I am left feeling underserved and underwhelmed.

A real 5* hotel. Previous trips we spent in another hotel 5* Melia, much worse feeling, while the standard of rooms similar. Beautiful Das Loft bar, where you get à la carte breakfast and full buffet. For the evening I recommend drinks in the restaurant, during the weekend the DJ makes the time more pleasant. The view from the 18th floor is beautiful. Hotel close to the center, less than 15min walk to the cathedral. We will definitely return to SO/ Vienna again. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)
