Just love staying here! Feels like home. Jessy is amazingly helpful and Artee always greets me on check in if she's available. Restaurants are great and staff couldn't be nicer! Beds are comfy and it's so convenient for T5. Highly recommend!!

A perfect airport hotel for an early flight!

TripAdvisor rating 5.0/5

ayeung39 Solo travel - TripAdvisor review

As I need to catch an early flight to Monaco last week, I have decided to stay at an airport hotel in Heathrow, and having checked a few hotels on the web, I have decided to stay in Sofitel Heathrow, as it is located right next to terminal 5 of the airport, which is where my flight departed, and of course, for just being Sofitel. Another reason that I chose this hotel was its price, at £130-200 per night, I consider the price to be bargain for a five start hotel chain like Sofitel. As a matter of fact, I have loved its ambience the moment that I arrived at the check in counter, because as a frequent traveller, you would not be mistaken that this is a Sofitel hotel. As for the room, originally I have booked the 26 square metered classic room, but I got upgraded to this 28 square metre Superior room. Again you would not be mistaken that this is the property of another hotel chain, as the design and use of furniture materials all screaming Sofitel, which to me is actually a good thing. Despite its size, it has all the facilities like workstation and television with internet and multimedia access. Do however beware of the privacy issue, as the room that I stayed is just right next to the common access to the hotel, and as a result, I need to lower the blinds for the whole stay. The bathroom has also carried on with its Sofitel tradition, from the use of Balmain as the toilet amenities, to the use of marble stone and even the design of the basin and showering facilities. It is also spacious and clean like its siblings around the world. That said, it has just come to my attention that the Accor Group hotels are no longer provided dental kit unless you explicitly request so. What’s more, both the material of the toothbrush and the package of the toothpaste are those considered to be environmentally sustainable. While I applaud their effort in keeping up with the latest trend of sustainability, it is slightly inconvenient to me. For food, I was provided with welcome drink at the Sphere Bar. I think the place and a very chill and relaxing space, but as I was just staying here for one night and by the time I arrived here the tea salon had already been closed, that was my only encounter with the hotel’s lobby lounge. However, I was able to secure a table at their French restaurant La Belle Epoque. Again what I like the most about the restaurants in Sofitel Hotels are their French vibes, which is actually quite unique when compared to other international hotel chains. Equally impressive are their food, whether it’s the Melbourne, Sydney version or the one in Singapore, the food are all pretty decent and not very expensive. This duck liver parfait is a very good way to start, and this smoke duck breast is another typical example on how to strike a balance of a supposed complicated taste of different ingredients like smoke duck breast, red onion and orange port. For a starter, this is both refreshing and colourful at the same time, which I’m actually not surprised for a Sofitel restaurant. For main course, this lamb rack is also beautifully made. The seasoning and the basil used had successfully created a refreshing balance of taste without completely eliminating the gamey smell of lambs, which I actually quite like. As for the dessert, this apple pie is slightly dissappointing though, and fortunately the caramel ice cream on the top of it has partly redeemed the whole dish as it is really good. As for facilities, while there are spa salon, it has no swimming pool. As for the gym, I consider the scale of it as quite decent with most of the facilities like treadmill, dumb bell and strength training machines available. Overall, I have to say my benchmark of a perfect airport hotel is still the Crowne Plaza at Changi Airport in Singapore, but the Sofitel Heathrow Hotel is actually pretty close to this benchmark.

Quality hotel well-located for T5

We have stayed many, many times over the years at this quality hotel as it is in a great location connected to T5 by a walkway. Park your car underneath, then walk over to T5 the next day....so convenient! We always use their parking-inclusive package. The room is so quiet with a lovely bed for a great sleep. Service in the Sphere bar was excellent and we enjoyed pork belly and a steak in the Vivre restaurant. This hotel is not cheap, but is quality with great service and so handy for T5.
