Lovely staff especially in the dining room who understood and accommodated dietary requirements. Clean rooms. Just be aware building work going on until summer so some noise/including weekends.

We were in York for a couple of days break. The hotel public areas were very relaxed and my son loved the pool table. The room was a good size and we really enjoyed our stay.

I was in York for one night on business, and stayed at the Novotel York Centre. Location-wise it's a bit strange, being in what looks like a residential area, but that does mean it's nice and quiet. The actual hotel was very nice... room not massive but comfortable and clean, excellent breakfast with a wide choice of hot and cold items, reception staff all really friendly, and the lobby area was smart and modern. One blip was that on the day we were there, the hotel was changing to a new computer system, and as a result the checking in process was really slow. But that was obviously a one-off situation, and wouldn't happen again. So overall, I'd recommend the Novotel York Centre hotel.

I appreciate they had moved to a new system. But I turned up with a toddler and dog to a massive queue at reception, during which we then had to evacuate due to a fire alarm. Check in therefore at least 40 mins eating into valuable time on our stay. Then they had to re-take all my details during check in which I had already provided - only to be told to pay for parking and dog staying (would have been a nice gesture to offer one complimentary…) Other than that room was nice, clean and food from restaurant was of good standard.
