Well located and an ok stay but I was in a room on tge 18th floor. I know these are to be refurbished but my room was old and the aircon noisy. The staff were all very nice.

Well located and the clerks at the front desk were very nice, but something needs to improve. There was a sofa bed but no extra duvet. Room service didn't give us the spring water, although we didn't really need it.

Dear Daniel, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We hope to welcome you back to our hotel very soon! Sincerely, Novotel Toronto North York

I don’t know where to begin. 8000 characters probably isn’t even enough to fit everything… Jason Parkes in the reservation department is the only person that provided any level of professional and friendly service. He deserves a raise for having to deal with the chaos the rest of your team creates. I was hounded not once, but twice, about my reservation being cancelled because I didn’t have a credit card on file. These emails were received after I spoke to Jason Parkes and he left a note on my file saying I would be paying with debit when I arrived and to not cancel the reservation. Jason Parkes responded each time apologizing for the emails and stated his coworkers missed the note on my file saying I would be paying with debit. Do you have any idea how stressful it is to think you will be arriving from a different province and maybe not having the hotel room you booked MONTHS in advance?? Do better. The main lobby (and the cost) of the hotel gives the illusion of a nice hotel. But that is where that ends. I arrived a few hours before check in and asked to use the luggage room until our room was ready. I was given the DIRTIEST look from the front desk agent and he huffed and puffed before coming to take our bags. I am not sure why that requested bothered him so much. When I checked in, the agent noted that I would be paying by debit. I told him I had actually secured a CC to avoid the $250 deposit. AFTER charging my card, I was informed about the $50/night deposit. Technically, I wasn’t informed. I asked why the amount that was charged was so high and then the agent told me about the deposit. So I was still charged a $200 deposit even though I used a CC. I fail to see how using a CC is beneficial at all if we are still being charged a deposit? It is now 3 days after I checked out and the deposit still has not been returned to my card. When I arrived in my room there was a light that did not work and one of the bed side shelves was broken and hanging off. I informed the front desk and they were quick to send someone up to fix the issues. We went out for supper and when we came back, the issues were still being worked on. The employee fixing the shelf asked me if I sat on the shelf and broke it. I was beyond offended and told him the shelf was broken when he arrived in the room. He rolled his eyes and continued working. We finally had privacy in our room at 6pm. 3 hours after check in!!! We had travelled all morning and walked around North York while waiting to check-in. We were EXHAUSTED and did not have a chance to relax until 6pm. We were very disappointed to learn that the TV only had basic cable and we were unable to rent movies. Even budget hotels have this option. The beds were hard and not very comfortable, however, I can appreciate that it is impossible for a hotel to provide a bed that every person finds comfortable. It was impossible to regulate the temperature in the room. It was either blasting hot or freezing cold. I needed to have the heat set to 32 degrees for an entire 24 hours before the heat even kicked in. But then once it kicked in, it was impossible to cool down the room again. The robe (that they charge $50 for) feels like sandpaper. I suspect they have not replaced the robes in many, many years. When a hotel is offering robes for sale, you would expect them to be luxurious. There was also only one robe/slippers set in my room when they knew the reservation was for two people. Attention to detail is an easy way to elevate any experience but Novotel failed to do this in so many ways. The room itself was pretty run down. The lights above the window were LED strip lights and they were falling off. I tried to reattach them but it was just those sticky strips (that you can get from the dollar store) and the stickiness had worn off. The sink was stained. The shower tile was stained and looked moldy in some areas. The shower head had a crack in it and sprayed water everywhere. There were cracks/chips in the bed headboard. There are signs on every floor saying “Sorry for the mess. We are renovating.” You know what would have been better than a sign? A discount to better reflect the poor conditions of the hotel. The “kids corner” was a touch screen table with a few games. The touch screen barely worked anymore because of its age. There was an Xbox that could be played by guests aged 3-12. I asked if I could play it with my child (8) and I was told no. Breakfast was OK but definitely not worth $22. It was no better than the free breakfast buffets at a budget hotel. The breakfast staff were over attentive. I realize that is likely a personal preference as most people might enjoy someone at your table every 5 minutes but it is not my preference when dining. I had an early morning flight so I left the hotel around 5am. There was no one at the front desk so I had to leave my room keys in the “express checkout” box. The doors were also locked and I struggled to figure out how to exit the hotel. It is 3 days later and I have yet to receive a receipt via email. Every hotel I have ever stayed at has sent a receipt after check out. As previously mentioned, I am also still waiting for the deposit to be returned. My main issue with this hotel is that the cost does not reflect the service and conditions of the hotel. I have stayed in many different hotels of varying calibre all over the country in the last year and Novotel by far has been the biggest disappointment. If you go in expecting an overpriced budget hotel then maybe you can save yourself the disappointment I experienced.

Staff here were great! The room is standard, but no real doors on bathroom and no fan either. Room was musty. Beds were terribly uncomfortable. Felt like spring mattresses from the 80s. Good location.

Dear Andrea, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. If you give us a chance to earn back your trust, I can assure you that we will do our best to give you the great hotel experience that so many of our guests have grown so fond of. Sincerely, Novotel Toronto north York
