Very dissapointing experience

We had very dissapointing experience at the Novotel Paris Saclay. We stayed at the hotel for 1 night as a part of a family trip over France and Spain. The appearance of the room and state of repair of the hotel was a real surprise. The decoration of the room was very old and fitted to very low standards. The toom haf rugged-styled walls as opposed to the finely plastered walls that you see in every hotel (for some 40 years now!), the wardrobe was a small unit from a shop like Conforama as opposed to a made-to-measure one, old architraves and woodwork, no coffee machine (just instant coffee), no complimentary things in the fridge, the bathroom was okay but the shower gel was missing, the toilet room smelled like pipework. The appearance of the hotel corridors was terrible and the fitness room was a total joke with three old machines and no weight lifting equipment. We had no complaint about the lobby and the breakfast area, but consider this to be a coverup of the poor offering of the hotel, which is meant to be a 4-star one. The price paid was extremely expensive for the value and has made us reconsidered Novotel as a trustable brand, and may re-route future road trips toward cities with another more up-scale but similarly priced brand.

Used restaurant and hotel. Both correct. Only negative point considering the price when arriving at breakfast the coffee machine was not working (it has been fixed after 15mn) and the choice of food was limited with several empty bowls.
