Having changed rooms due to cleanliness issues I was shocked to discover the second one was even worse , can only be described as very poor , dead flies on the window sills, dust on the bed , a dirty cup on the floor had been used previously to trap an insect , bath dirty to name a few , dont bother asking for the suites they aren’t worth the extra money !! Tried to call reception several times no answer really poor service.

Nice stay just needs a few tweaks

I rated 3 star because following reasons dinner was ok tasted like microwave meals tho we had a curry each Breakfast had good choice but had no taste was very bland Lights on bed side in room was to high so when laying in bed ti turn lights off u needed to get out bed to do this Room was very dated could do with a touch paint Also about 2.50 am I kept hearing knocks on wood n floor creeking And a man appeared walked behind tv n thru the wall now this didn’t bother me as it’s a old building but b warned this hotel does have extra guests that walk at night apart from that was a nice. Night away

This hotel has been taken over and is no longer a Mercure Hotel (I make that point clear as Mercure have a good reputation) and they appear to be a BKG Hotel. Having stayed overnight at the hotel to attend a function I later received my credit card statement. I had been charged the correct amount for my booking which was for two rooms, but had also been charged £208.23 on a separate entry on my statement. I contacted the hotel and the manager rang me back. trying to tell me I had booked two rooms I was able to explain that I had and that the correct amount for that booking had been charged. We then went onto discuss the second entry on my card statement for the £208.23 which he then claimed he couldn't find. After some urging by me to look again as the statement specifically shows the amount being paid to BKG Hotels he did, and came up with the same answer - they did not have my money. Well, somebody has. I have now had to fill in endless on line forms for my credit card provider and at the moment I am stuck in limbo, still £208.35 down. My advice to you is this, if you have recently stayed there check your credit card statement, if you are thinking of staying there - don't bother. I could go on about the state of the rooms and the waiters at the dinner I attended being casually dressed and not in suitable attire but I am running out of space. Peter Nesbitt

We have stayed here a few times and it looks absolutely beautiful after refurbishing. Yes some of the rooms haven’t been finished yet but the rest of the hotel looks 100% better. The staff are very friendly , cleaners,bar staff,receptionist and management.Looking forward to staying here again, hopefully for a wedding 🥳

Firstly the girl who checked me in at reception was lovely. Sadly it was downhill after that. The room was very dated, possibly the most uncomfortable bed I’ve been in. I can’t say ‘slept in’ because it was so awful, I didn’t. Torn curtains, dated chipped furniture and black mold in the bathroom. I was told the I could eat in the bar or restaurant, the menu was the same. The menu was similar to something you’d get at Wetherspoons, processed, frozen, fried. Not what you’d expect from a hotel that caters for weddings. I had to leave after 2 nights of no sleep.
