The Mercure as many other reviews have said, is looking a little dated in some areas, but is clean, with comfortable beds, (mostly) hot water in the shower with good pressure, sparkling clean pool (dated pool surrounds, but safe and maintained) and beautiful gardens. Above all, the staff are the standout here- warm, friendly and welcoming. This is the place to stay if you’d like to see some of the real Fiji. Just $1 every time no matter the distance, on the Nadi/Lautoka bus terminates at the markets. From here you can wander around and check out the cultural markets, Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami temple and of course the local food markets. If you want to check out Denarau, look for the yellow buses with ‘Denarau’ signs- these cost $1.61. Try to have correct change! Back to the Mercure, a buffet breakfast is included with delicious local fruits, granola, yoghurt, western type cereals, potato tots, eggs, sausages, pancakes, toast and assorted cakes. They also provide 2 types of Indian dishes which were absolutely delicious- not hot or spicy- just flavoursome. Finally, there is a supermarket and shopping precinct around 100 metres turning left out of the hotel.

The hotel is an embarrassment to the Accor brand after previously staying at Sofitel Denarau beforehand No hot water showers Suffered from a terrible allergic reaction on entering the hotel room The facilities are in desperate need of refurbishment and isn’t of a quality that matches the Accor brand Never again could we accept such mediocre facilities On the upside I have to give the staff credit as they were lovely and did their to make your stay as good as they could under the circumstances.

Comfortable room, great staff, delicious breakfast, including a made to order egg/omelet station. We loved using the tennis court and pool. There are many restaurants nearby. On the main road so easy to catch the local bus. We went to the mud baths, sleeping giant garden, and the temple downtown.

Do not believe the lifestyle photographs. Do not go by the Mecure name. We stayed here twice, transit from and to the airport (by the way taxi should be about $15 Fijian). Both rooms were dimly lit, damp and stale, the first a little better than the second room, but both really awful. The second felt like could be rented out by the hour. The beds hard, and made you feel itchy. (I don't mind a firm mattress, but these were ridiculous.) The staff were nice, but not overly friendly. The bar service extremely slow, and the breakfast boring and uneventful. If you do stay here try the Peri Peri Chicken restaurant across the road, great pizza, and cold beer.

Stayed here as it was recommended by a friend. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The rooms are not as shown in pictures , they are old run down and dark. The bathroom is awful, dirty and the shower cavity fills with water while washing. The breakfast never changes from day to day, it’s awful , stick with the cooked fresh to order eggs and omelettes. The food at dinner was the worst, took almost an hour to bring out our meal and when we got it the bolognaise was cold, the garlic bread was wet and the vegetable mimosa were frozen packet ones from a supermarket. Expensive and awful. Do not eat here. None of the Fijian hospitality I have heard of. Very small pool which they call a resort style pool. I will say though the grounds were kept lovely. Avoid this place if you can.
