Rip off with bad service and food

Visiting a friend staying at Novotel for drinks and dinner. Started with a drink in market bar or correctly tried to have a drink. Four beers on tap. Two unavailable needing someone to charge keg ( in next 24 hours) . Used guest card voucher for large glass house white. Voucher only covers small glass of house white. Staff unable to change order without adjusting ticket. 40 minutes later still no wine. Went to hotel restaurant. The minimal English staff could not / unaware of food difference between Bar n restaurant. Sat in restaurant, 30 mins before approach for order. Wait staff unable to explain menu, minimal English. Did not know or explain vegetables or sides. Roast chicken and grass fed scotch fillet steak. Chicken small, unappealing and obviously poached on cold mash, Cold veg. $60 steak was 200gm not 300. Steak mostly fat and gristle. Veg and mash cold. Took 40 mins to arrive. The meals were an embarrassment and to quote my fried staying “a rip off”. We were not asked if we’d like a drink or offer water. We had to ask at bar which took 30 mins to be served. I would not recommend the Novotel restaurant, service or food as a cheap boarding house and it was as expensive as the top restaurants in Sydney. Over seas and local visitors much be totally conned. this was an excellent facility,very handy to airport with great staff that seemed to go abopve and beyond to make our stay enjoyable.the rooms are very comfortabl and quiet.we had drinks and meals downstairs and found the service and food very good. would definitely stay again.

The rooms are spacious, clean & very comfortable. The bathrooms are well appointed with a range of toiletries that were more than adequate. Our beds were comfortable with great pillows. The staff were friendly and helpful making our check-in and out with ease, nothing was too much trouble. This is a convenient location.

Good family room with plenty of space, very friendly and helpful staff, great location for Intl Airport, kids loved the pool with a view of the city. Meals in the restaurant were lovely, enjoyed the Aussie touch on the breakfast buffet before flying back to Asia.

Would have definitely given a 4☆ until I met the GM after major issues @ the hotels restaurant. I specifically asked for eggs a specific way (soft scrambled) which I could immediately tell cooked hard & cardboard box eggs & not the real thing, wait staff went back and again NOT cooked soft, and bacon so hard just terrible! I asked who's the manager, he pointed to the front desk buy was ultimately talking to the GM, who ultimately called me rude, not even listening to me, smart ass remarks "you were in the kitchen watching them cook....", I don't have to I see my food was visibly cooked wrong, but this man's overall NASTY UNPROFESSIONAL attitude made my skin crawl, clearly couldn't careless what hotels customers have to say. Room itself spacious and nice BUT tv u have to navigate each time it goes on to get ANY live tv channels. Bed & pillows could be a little softer. And please get USA style plugs in your rooms, especially since your so close to an international Airport.
