Lovely Hotel, Terrible Restaurant . . . After a long road trip we arrived at the Hotel where we stayed before. As I had checked the restaurants' menu online a few days ago I thought I would be delighted with what I hoped were some great French classics . . . . Being a graduate of the Hotelschool of Lausanne I have an academic and practical restaurant background. We each ordered two starters as our evening meal; Œufs coulants « plein air » de Gevrey-Chambertin façon meurette, the sauce meurette was nothing more than a heavy demi glace reduction with a hint of red wine. It was served with cold soggy breadsticks. 3/10 is my grade. Followed by an all time classic: Soupe à l’oignons doux revisitée au Mont d’Or. My disappointment was monumental. Some sort of cold beige tasteless soft quenelle with a few token onion leaves and the broth, yet again more demi glace now with a hint of onion broth, served in a small jar which was added to the cold concoction in the plate. Something out of a horror book when you expect an oven baked crust of bread and cheese on top of a piping hot onion soup with plenty onions in a tasty meat or vegetable stock. 2/10 is my grade. True French classics cuisine can be refined without ruining the traditional recipe. Improving is terrific reinventing a classic is an absolute no no!

Great hotel as it should be. We really loved this hotel, you feel welcomed and special when you are very. Thank you very much for the staff for outr time in this hotel. The bar is also very good. Hope we will be back one day.

Many shiny extras, very average service considering we paid full rate for 5 rooms, tired fit out too.

Location 10/10. That’s the good bit. Arrival 4.30. Rooms not ready, no apology, 1 free drink after a bit of wtf is going on. Reception staff average at best and generally rude. Rooms were tired, bathrooms all the mdf around the sinks had blown, skirting blown, generally tired. Noisy from rooms next door. Overrated to be fair. Checkout ok, however all show and no go.

A lovely visit to this highly regarded hotel. Took tea in the funky bar and nite the selection and choice amazing. The tasty snacks offered fresh and delicious. A nice touch. Warm reception by the staff. The hotel is very well placed and offers Very attentive service as well.
