Stayed here for a night this week as had a meeting locally the following day. Booked fairly late notice into a twin room for sole use. Checked in around 7, greeted by a very friendly receptionist who noted that I had a twin booked and very kindly upgraded me into a double Privilege room. The room was in a really quiet location on the first floor, at the end of a corridor, and I found it to be very good. Decent space, comfortable bed, light and airy. Nice coffee machine, only thing I would say is desk and TV a little small but no great issue. Bathrooms are not new or modern but absolutely spotlessly clean. Didn't use the facilities aside from the restaurant for breakfast which was a pretty standard buffet done well. Staff extremely friendly across the hotel. Would definitely recommend if you need to be in the area!

I’ve stayed here a number of times over the last few years and gradually seen it decline. The staff are great, they’re the hotel’s saving grace and I’ve seen the same faces over the years so they must be a good team as they stay loyal. I arrived late, 22:30, but food wasn’t being served as the chef had gone home. I only wanted a sandwich but I couldn’t get one, even though they advertise 24 hour room service. The corridor (2nd floor) and room smelled musty, as though there had been a leak that hadn’t dried out. The bedroom and bathroom were clean, just very dated. TV is small, maybe only 24”, not sure how many channels as I only watched the news. The hotel is in desperate need of a facelift and it will put me off returning until it’s done.

Thank you for your review. I am so very sorry that your view of the hotel has deteriorated. We have had an issue on our second floor where a water heater has leaked and damaged our carpet. The boiler is being repaired this week and the carpet next . I am sorry for the damp smell as you leave the lift. We have most of the free view channels but as guest are more than ever choosing to watch their own streaming we are in the process of upgrading our Wi-Fi so when full all guests can stream their TV of choice. We have a wonderful loyal team and I am very sorry they did not offer you a sandwich and I will be speaking to our duty managers to unsure this is something we always offer Regards David

The food and staff were very good, as was the pool and gym. However the room was like stepping back in time, in need of refurbishing, the bathroom was the worst. Also no cupboards or draws to hang or stow clothes, apart from a small open space behind a mirror. We had to leave all our clothes in the suitcase apart from jackets, for these we moved the ironing board out and hung them on the iron support bracket. It was definitely the worst botel room we have ever stayed in for a 4 star hotel. Would we stay again? Not unless thete is a complete room make over.

Very comfortable rooms top class table service in the restaurant with a great choice of meals together with the bar service especially Anne Marie and cornelia Who always give you service with a smile and some good banter very pleasant experience as always

Stayed here last weekend. Nice hotel, good food - we must mention Spencer one of the dining staff - so polite and friendly and very good with the children... definitely an asset to the Team. Also Nickie and Linda - they needed roller skates at breakfast - massive thanks to Nickie for keeping the children pain au chocolate (they weren't ready as we left the dining room) but she put them in bags for them to get on their way out. Thankyou. Massive family room, great night sleep. Only downside was the pool was cold - the staff were very apologetic but it really was out of their hands.
