Worst Reception Staff

SanaKrishna Rodziny - Opinia zatwierdzona w TripAdvisor

I have never given a bad review to a hotel before…even if I didn’t have the best service. I was staying in Nice over the new year. I have been travelling around France since 3 weeks - mostly Accor hotels. I have stayed at the Mercure too last week but not in Nice. My parents and I were walking around the promenade (near the water) in Nice when my mum suddenly needed to use the washroom. The closest place was Hotel Mercure Nice Marché aux Fleurs. That day was some holiday and a couple of cafés were closed. My mum has had multiple surgeries and uses a walking stick. We walked into this hotel, she climbed up a few stairs (probably 7/8) to reach the reception. There was a lady sitting at the reception. We requested her if my mum could use their washroom and even mentioned that we stayed at the Mercure, but not with them. She didn’t bother uttering a word or even responding. The bitter woman didn’t even look up at us from her computer! A man who was working there too walks by, so we request him then, thinking maybe she didn’t hear (but we know she did). He tells us rudely that there’s no washroom. My mother had her stick in her hand and I requested him again. He very rudely shunned us off and said there are no washrooms available. It’s honestly quite sad and pathetic. I hope one day, this man and the lady can be in a similar situation and understand the importance of kindness. I don’t mean it in a bad way, but yes, getting a taste of your own medicine is required some times. We don’t mind that he said he can’t help but there was no need for this kind of rudeness. This team is in the wrong field. They shouldn’t be in hospitality.

Scenic yet Subpar

The hotel boasts an excellent location, with a scenic beachfront promenade view. It's conveniently situated just a few minutes' walk from Place Massena, the old town, and vibrant markets. The Opera tram stop nearby provides easy airport access with a simple change at Jean Medecin, and Uber rides are reasonably priced at around 20 euros. While the hotel's central location is a plus, it's important to note that accessibility might be an issue for some. The hotel, being small, only has stair access to its one upper floor and also requires navigating stairs to enter the ground level. The hotel's lobby is functional, doubling as a small seating and bar area. The reception, staffed 24 hours, also manages the bar. This setup, while efficient, might not offer the extensive amenities seen in larger hotels. The room I stayed in was small yet functional, featuring a large, comfortable bed, but with limited space around it. Facilities included a desk with tea/coffee amenities, a built-in wardrobe, and a small wall-mounted TV. However, the room's side view of the Opera house often necessitated closed curtains. On a positive note, the hotel provides reliable WiFi with speeds of 40 Mbps. The bathroom is equipped with a walk-in shower, a wall-mounted hairdryer, and basic toiletries. It's functional but creates a wet room due to the absence of an effective water barrier. The room's condition was noticeably dated. Attention is required to address issues like a worn-out wardrobe, loose plug sockets, stained carpets, and the inefficient bathroom layout. Unfortunately, the customer service was subpar, characterised by misinformation, inattentiveness, and occasional unapproachability. This aspect of the hotel significantly detracted from the overall experience. As an advocate of the Accor brand and loyalty member, I had high expectations for this Mercure hotel. However, this experience fell short of the typical standards expected from a 4-star establishment. While 1 of the 4 rooms with a balcony and seafront views might offer a more unique experience, I find it challenging to recommend this hotel without significant improvements.

Great location - and confortable room

We stayed at hotel Marche Aux Fleurs in October 2023. We had a ‘Privilege’ room – and this was very large. Huge bed – very comfortable - with great selection of pillows.. Large bathroom with walk in shower. Dressing gowns and slippers included. Small fridge in room. Room was spotlessly clean. Very good air conditioning. Breakfast was excellent – hot selection (sausages, bacon, eggs) and huge selection of cereals, yoghurts, juices, hams, cheeses, pastries – with teas and coffees of your choice. More than enough to set you up for the day. Positioned right on the sea front – perfect location. We took the tram from the airport to Jean Medecin tram stop in Nice (just €3.70) and then about 10–15-minute walk to hotel. Would happily recommend and stay there again.

Few days in Nice

The Mercure Nice Marche aux Fleurs is right at the promenade anglais. Perfect location, friendly staff. Breakfast is good as well. rooms are small but ok to stay for a few days. Our room had a rather low sealing. So if you above 1.90m it might be challenging especially in the bath room. This would be the only minus point

Breathtaking views, awesome ambiance and good service

The location is prime, offering breathtaking views of the sea. The friendly receptionist, Walid, made us feel right at home and provided exceptional customer service throughout my stay. The hotel was overall well-maintained, although there was a slight strange smell. It didn't affect my overall enjoyment bit its good to know. If a charming hotel where price/quality is correct on an amazing location is your style I highly recommend this hotel !
