This property is dated and service lapses were apparent throughout. It was a far cry from what was experienced in 2017. Each time, staff(s) present the justification that team members are "new" and therefore not synced with the Accor level of service training. To be fair, details pertaining to respective departments as follows: 1. Concierge/Porter: Clearly saw the guest getting out of an Uber with two suitcases but chose to remain at their posts. Did not even assist in opening and/closing the door. 2. Front Desk: Their faces seem stoic and stern at all times. No smiles or greetings each time you pass through, unless, they know you and remember the interaction. There are some who are sincere and hospitable though, such as Leroy, Julien, and George, who go out of their way to help with noise/disturbance issues. The rest simply have their eyes glued to their screens and fervently hoping that they do not need to deal with the next guest in line. 3. Guest Experience/Loyalty: Virtually inexistent. They don't grasp the concept of the Accor Loyalty program and deem that a standard, typewritten card with a few meagre pieces of fruit in the suite would suffice. 4. Restaurant/Bar: Rather efficient. Able to manage despite high weekend crowds. However, inconsistent when it comes to offering of tea/coffee as a first round. They would rather the guest help themselves to the paper cups and tea bags than brew a fresh pot of tea, which takes forever to arrive. Staff at the bar look tired and expressionless. They do not even bother to intervene when they see students from the nearby University camping on the steps of the outdoor seating area and vaping/smoking (within hotel grounds). 5. Housekeeping: The saving grace of this property. Clean, prompt and polite when you pass them in the hallway. Preferences and specifications are noted and there's always someone manning the housekeeping line. Even the runners are polite and customer-centric. 6. Room/Product: Noise insulation is clearly an issue. The building is simply too old and noise from surroundings, especially that coming from juvenile students partying over the weekend is an issue. Clearly, the hotel is not upscale as repeatedly presented. There are better choices such as the Sofitel and Fable nearby which I would go to should I consider what's available under the Accor umbrella. I have no doubt that I will be receiving a standard response or none at all to this review but the objective remains to state that this property has deteriorated to the point of non-recognition. Lovely hotel - albeit at the top of a hill! We made good use of Uber’s to get back after a day/night out! Staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. Our room was well appointed although looked out onto other buildings at the side of the hotel and was always quite dark, even in the middle of the day. Swimming pool & sauna / steam room were excellent.
