I was honestly very disappointed at my stay. This was my first time staying with the Fairmont Château Laurier and prior to my stay I had only seen the place from the outside and a tour of the inside public access areas. I had been looking forward to my stay due to the famous reputation this hotel holds, however my recent experience was extremely disappointing. To begin, for the price of the stay even at a discounted rate was far too expensive considering the amenities and services that it was lacking. For example, parking is $60+/day (valet only) which is ridiculous considering the average in the city seemed to be around $25-30. In addition, the facilities did not include a free breakfast or even a snack bar for guests and all the cafes, restaurants, and room services were over priced. Not only that, personally I could get over not having breakfast provided but for the price of the stay here, the amenities are really lacking. For example they do not have a hot tub or sauna which was shocking. While they do have a pool and gym, I had found them to be fairly busy and over occupied. Lastly, the room was fairly small and walls were really thin allowing the sounds of the neighbours to be heard disrupting sleep. You can have the same size and quality of room at most other reputable hotels in the area. Overall, I was very disappointed with my experience here and I would not comeback or recommend anyone to come stay here at your own expense. It’s better to observe the historical beauty of the building from the outside for free.

Lost its touch

Fairmont culture has shifted over the years. It seems to have lost the desire to “WoW” people that used to be the emblematic of a fairmont standard. Additionally, some policies, for example, not allowing food delivery services to deliver to the room, seem punitive to the guest. I paid a relatively low rate and I’m not sure the value is there.
