The Magnificent new Historic Wing

The recently renovated new Historic Wing rooms and corridors were absolutely opulent as well as being high tech. My suite overlooked a beautiful, peaceful garden and had ample living, sleeping and work space; all the height of luxury. The Club lounge served excellent buffet and made to order breakfasts as well as a wide assortment of cocktails and h'ordeuves in the evening. Hotel staff were attentive and helpful at all times. I highly recommend booking in the new Historic Wing. An added plus, Sofitel Metropole hotel is a 5 minute walk from lovely Hoan Kiem lake which is closed to cars and motor bikes on weekends resulting in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere to walk around or sit on lake front benches.

Our stay in Hanoi and Halong Bay: The trip was perfectly organized by Asian Trails. The hotel Metropole in Hanoi certainly one of the most beautiful hotel in South East Asia Built in 1901 and wonderfully redecorated since , an absolutely perfect service , all the staff extremely professional and gentle and all speaking fluent english. The cruise on Halong Bay on board Capella Cruise, a boat chosen by Asian Trails: very comfortable and very spacious cabins and again: perfect service, friendly staff and excellent organization. My most pleasant trip these twenty past years, Thanks to Asian Trails, the Metropole hotel in Hanoi and Capella Cruise in Halong Bay. Also many thanks to our guide in Hanoi who has been able to make me discover different parts of Hanoi I did not know yet. Perfectly educated and extremely gentle Patrick S

An outstanding hotel located in the French Quarter of Hanoi. All the staff were excellent and provided a first class service. An ideal location for exploring both the Old Quarter and the French Quarter of Hanoi. Such an ideal spot to walk around the lake and to experience local activities and for sightseeing. Also take the open top bus tour from the Opera House to view the more historic sites and buildings of Hanoi.

Second time staying here. Used my Accor membership also and gained a upgrade to one of my deluxe legend rooms to a suite (tho the other rooms are fabulous) always take the lounge options for the fabulous breakfasts afternoon tea and evening champagne and cocktails..! Amazing staff and I always enjoy the limousine service though this is a pricy option but fab if you like to treat yourself. Le beualie restaurant is also fabulous. (well done Chris!) will be back again for sure.... 5 stars all the way

This is the most exquisite hotel full of history with a new adventure around every corner. It felt like you had gone back in time but retained all the benefits of modern times. The staff were amazing and could not have been more helpful. It is hard to pick out a favourite but I have to say a big thank you to May who checked us in. She was excited about our stay, and ensuring we had a lovely break. Her mood was infectious and this set the scene for a wonderful break. The only slight thing for us is that the beds are a little hard and perhaps could benefit from a bed topper. The breakfast was very good with lots of options including a mango-inspired Bellini. I loved the touches such as the musicians who came to the hotel to play during the afternoon into the evening. When you sat by the pool they brought out ice-cold water. The hotel kindly gifted us a late checkout and we repaid this by doing a bar hop around the hotel on our last day, trying out all the different places we had not been to. The decor is so different in each of the areas that it felt like we had been to four different hotels all in one. I love, loved Angelina's and breakfast in the conservatory part of the hotel. The history, the people, the decor, and everything about this hotel was just divine. It is a bit more expensive than some of the other hotels but especially if this is your first time in Hanoi I would not hesitate to spend a little bit extra on the Sofitel Legend Metropole - it is not just a hotel but an experience in itself. For example; there are not too many hotels that have their very own tour taking you through the history of the hotel and down into its bunker used during the war.
