I have been in the Mercure Piazza Bologna on multiple occasions, and I have always been treated as a special guest. However, this time I was thoroughly disappointed. I was given a top floor room in a particularly hot day, and to my surprise I saw that the A/C was not working, hence the room was like a glasshouse, hot and discomfortable. When I went to the Reception to inquire about the A/C, I was told that there was no other room available, but I was being a guest only one night (as in: for one night, it's ok to suffer a bit). The only option I was offered was to open some windows while out, which was not ideal. What is even worse, I was told that the A/C was not connected at all, which is unacceptable, since I should at least have been informed...

When i first entered the hotel, leaving my wife on the street with 6 big luggages, when asking the front desk if someone could help us with the bags, the lady at the front told me "there is no facchino" "if you want you can borrow that trolley". Then after checking in we were told to use a service lift with no hotel accompanying, we had to go through a very dark room full of crates and back of house equipment. The room was a seize of a match box. The safe was soo old and did not work. Not sure how this hotel is rated 4 star. The only positive was the staff person at the check out, he was nice and had a little friendly chat.

Great room and professional hotel

2 nights and had a top floor corner room with great views and a roof top terrace. It was hot for April and not sure the air con was working but otherwise the room was great and better than expected. The hotel is efficient and very close to Bologna metro just 3 stops from Termini Station.
