As a seasoned traveller wth business and family I cannot express my utter disappointment with this hotel.We have travelled extensively across New Zealand with our 11 year old with no issues until this stay. We were staying before a flight home to the UK and planned to meet friends in the roof top bar at about 6pm for champagne before dinner at the restaurant below. We were greeted with children are not allowed in the bar due to the General managers policy. And no other bar was open so why does this hotel take bookings with children if they are not welcome ! We would of spent a lot of money so not economic for the hotel. We are also always looking for hotels for an International sports teams which occupy 40 rooms at a time so this one will definately be off the list. Even the staff I spoke to didnt agree with the policy of the General Manager , so obviously they do not like children. Thankfully I was not on my own or I would had to sit in my room all night after supper.

We were pleased with the pool facilities, Executive Lounge, Buffet breakfast & HI-SO Rooftop Bar. The hotel staff were courteous & friendly. Disappointed with the lunch menu, very limited choices to choose from. The MAINS from the menu: food portions served was insufficient. Eg. For the Clams with Market Fish (Snapper) MAIN, only 3-4 clams & 2 tiny (less than thumb-size) pieces of fish. Unacceptable, especially when we had invited a friend for lunch there.

We were extremely disappointed on our nights stay , we were very excited to take our well behaved son to the roof top bar for champagne before meeting friends for dinner to take to the the Harbour City hotel. We were greeted with we do not accept children in our bar as its the policy of the the General Manager.. we were aghast as if we had known that children were so unwelcome we would not of booked this hotel. Also the downstair bar was closed so if I was alone with my son I would of had to sit in my room! When I tackled staff about this policy the staff said they didnt understand it either and have had complaints from previous bookings !! As its not company policy the General Manager must just hate the little people. !!! We have travelled around New Zealand with an International Sports team and every hotel there was never any issue and we will definately not be selecting this hotel for future tours which could of definately been very lucrative for this hotel. I will make sure I will leave some reviews on internet review sites so that people know and dont get caught out like us !!!
