Great hotel located on the famous Process street and very close to Waverly station with excellent bus/tram connection. Stayed there 2 night with breakfast (buy during check for discount) - alternatively can allows pick up from local coffee shops of Weatherspoons pub. Breakfast is good with small buffet selection and veggie made to order. Easy access to all the sites and splendid views of Edinburgh castle if facing the street. Found the carpet flooring quite dirty in places. Staff are very friendly. Could of stayed in many cheaper budget hotels but made the right choice staying here. Def stay here again.

Afternoon Tea and Privilege Room

Mum and I stayed here for a night, we both had privilege rooms. Mum had an afternoon tea beforehand which was lovely and fresh, and with a beautiful view out to Princes St gardens and the castle. The lounge area is so relaxed and the staff very attentive. It is a place to sit and watch, and enjoy a glass of wine. The rooms were lovely and big, with bay windows. I will ask for a privilege room with a balcony next time, as they are even better! Breakfast is just as good in the lounge, with plenty to choose from. This is our 'go to' hotel in town when we want some time to relax. Loved it!

Stayed here with my Dad and family. My Dad is limited re mobility. He had a room with a large wet room and was very comfortable in it. The staff on reception/helping with luggage were very friendly. The other rooms were very nice with an enormous television in each we all slept well. I was in room 376 and because it was so cold outside (the room was warm and heat could be contolled very easily with a radiator) I didn't have the window open at night but opened it slightly in the daytime. There was a hum from something electrical outside which may have affected my sleep if I have had the window open at night. Breakfast was fabulous. A very wide choice of food and if you ordered the night before only £12 which was exceptional value for the range available. The dining room is on the first floor and has the most amazing view of the castle and all the buildings along that row, also the Scot monument. That view every morning and lit up when dining in the evening was very uplifting. The location meant it was so easy to get anywhere walking/trams/buses/taxis. We dined in the hotel twice and again the food was lovely (clean plates all round) and the staff were great. If we were coming to Edinburgh in the future we would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had an excellent stay- we were on the 3rd floor with a fabulous view of castle and old town.The room was a good size and very well equipped- furnishings and decoration excellent.Staff very helpful and we were offered a discount on restaurant and breakfast- we decided to try the restaurant and weren't disappointed- lovely setting and excellent food.I am surprised at some of the less enthusiastic reviews but we could not fault the hotel.Have recommended to several people- definitely the best Mercure we have stayed in and good value.

I rarely write reviews and I normally do not book rooms in a chain hotel. However, my experience at Mercure Edinburgh City Princess Hotel was my favourite stay at a hotel so far and I am making sure to visit again whenever I am in Edinburgh. The rooms were fantastic and I felt really comfortable (not to mention the beautiful view on Princess street from your windows!) The members of staff give the hotel the nice atmosphere and particularly Karolina and Craig were incredibly kind and supportive during my stay.
