Mercure Chiangmai, where to start.... okay with the reception staff, the room maids, the engineers, the bellboys, the van drivers.... they are ALL so nice, friendly and giving you the warmth to feel at home at Mercure Chiangmai! Not the full 5 stars because this Mercure hotel is a bit different from other Mercure hotels I have visited in Thailand and other countries. It's not that luxurious, read, a bit outdated from what Mercure guests are used too in other Mercure properties. But, I did enjoy my stay here a lot. Although I had some problems with my air-conditioning the first night, the chief engineer solved the problem with a big smile. During late afternoon it was quite noisy on my floor due to be on the "groups" floor. And some things like the sunbeds at swimming pool area, and towel hangers at bathroom could be improved. So after my stay I contacted the hotel and after a prompt reply they promised me to take my remarks into account. So, let's see, visiting there again at the end of May.... Just to remember,very comfy beds, clean rooms, refreshing swimming pool, lovely staff, free transfer to nightmarket.....

We stayed at Mercure Chiang Mai during Christmas week. The hotel is a bit outdated, but it didn't bother us since the room is clean (except under the bed which was too dusty. We saw it on our last night, so we didn't ask for it to be cleaned anymore.) Breakfast was good and was inexpensive (B150/person). The hotel also provided free shuttle service to weekend market/night market. The staff were all very friendly, but one of them stood out - Ms Kanlaya Manokiang. She helped us book our tours, called the tour agency for us and answered all our questions and was just so accommodating. She always had a smile on her face and always greeted us every time she saw us pass by the reception area. Thank you, Ms Kanlaya, for being so kind to us! We loved our holiday in Chiang Mai and are truly glad we stayed at Mercure.

The rooms boast ample space and cozy bedding but suffer from an outdated design and moderate cleanliness issues—ants being a concern. However, the redeeming factor lies in the exceptional staff, whose warmth and service overshadow shortcomings. Ideal for groups seeking affordability and a well-located spot, this hotel makes a sensible choice despite its imperfections. perfections and did I forget to mention the breakfast selection is great and delicious.

The staff at the Mercure are its major asset. The Hotel itself is dated but adequate. Bit of a trip into the city centre. But plenty of cheap transport. I don't pay for the breakfast buffet, last time I tried it, it was terrible. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet in The Mercure Bangkok, fabulous. One odd problem in the Chiang Mai Mercure is the mosquitoes.
