The only good thing about this place was the bed, it was very comfy. The new pool looks absolutely stunning but it wasn't open so we couldn't try it. There were cockroaches all through our room, we counted about eight before I gave up. We booked this hotel because it was convenient to the airport with our flight coming in so late at night. Had that not been the case and it was earlier, I would've cancelled my booking and gone elsewhere. It is very overpriced. Bit of a shame really as it has the potential to be a great place.

We went there for 2 nights at the beginning of our stay since we landed 1:30am and the hotel was close. We booked a 1 bedroom deluxe suite in the Mecure which I found excellent. The Novotel, Mecure and Ibis is basically one complex with one central reception at the entrance which serves all 3. We had breakfast included and went to the Mecure buffet breakfast was was good. The Novotel supposedly does an A La carte breakfast. We went to the Novotel one night for dinner, the atmosphere was that of a workers meal location and assume that what it was in the day and is now, I think Novotel must have changed the pool facing conference room from the original Novotel restaurant..... Anyway terrible looking restaurant, food was good but look and feel of restaurant dreadful.. Staff were all friendly and good except for main reception female manager with short hair and no name badge was cold and dreadful with no customer service at all. Worst reception person I have ever come across in my life. I verified and the 2nd day I could bring my rental car in to pick up our suitcases our our room was at the back of the resort, day 1 reception staff said that was fine, day 2 when I spoke to this short haired female manager said no and it would cost $20 to drive in through gate to pick our bags up..... although I said I was told it would be ok to pick bags up. I also informed her my door didn't close properly although it looked locked and said the door needs adjusting and she said it was nothing to do with her and it was my fault and she said she would someone to look at it which I never saw, she never smiled once and was horrible. Anyway I went back later and saw another manager as this rude manager was serving someone else and I asked her about picking our bags up through gate and she that was fine to drive in and pick the bags up. Also main Novotel pool looked fine was closed due to whoever knows which we would have loved to swim in.

Once reliable hotel gone to the dogs.

I stay here once every few months when I am working in Arnhem Land. I usually fly in on the weekend, stay at the Mercure for a night or two then fly out to work on the Monday morning. It has been very convenient for that purpose, but it has, until now, also been a nice play to stay. Now that they have 'centralised' the Mercure and the Novotel, everything is in disarray. The facilities themselves are much worse, and the service staff are disorganised and ignorant of the new processes. I'm sure they are doing their best to adjust to new circustances, but the experience from a traveller's perspective is much worse. I actually extended my stay this time because I thought I would use the new pool at the Novotel. I've seen them building it over the last 12 months and it looks great. However it was only once I checked in that I learned the pool is not working. Not only that, but they have clearly let the Mercure pool itself go into disrepair, probably because the Novotel pool was supposed to supersede it. It is a very strange state of affairs though because the Novotel pool looks pristine but we are told it has a 'plant issue' while the Mercure pool has traffic cones around it, brickwork failing around the edges, and ghetto looking furniture. It makes no sense... what 'plant issue' lasts for months? The Mercure has been my go-to stop when I am working in the territory but I will have to reconsider that in the future.

Many changes with new reception area and large pool area. Have stayed here many times and changes not well advertised or explained on check it. For many years always parked at hotel now if staying at Mercure have to walk quite a long way from parking to rooms while vacant parks everywhere. Not explained at check in Noisy fighting and disturbances in our block for hours overnight. Hotel slow to respond and sort this out. Very minimal sleep a result of this. Used to recommend this place. Not anymore although pool area looks beautiful.

Going down hill fast.

Rooms ok but had to change as aircon not working. Took three calls to reception over the day! Adjoining Novotel pool not open and no sunshade for any area of the pool. Mecur pool should not have been open. Concrete edging not attached to the pool. Second day children stacking them up, exceedingly dangerous. Electic wires sticking out but hidden by rock. Glass glasses being used in the pool. Several plastic cups on pool floor. Notice saying no life guard so parental supervision a must. Last day 8yr olds birthday party with i would guess 20-30 kids. All diving and bombing. Got hit twice while looking after 4yr old granddaughter. Had to leave on safety grounds. Food ok. Parking 20$ per night per car! Would only stay here again to get to airport. Second stay first was a little better.
