Stayed in January, to break journey from the Alps to UK. About 4 hours from the Alps and 7.5 hours from Calais and not too far off a main route. Good hotel, Macon looked interesting but didn’t spend long there. Special thanks to Morgane and Romain for great service.

Good place for a short stay in Macon

Took a group of wine professionals for a three night stay. Reasonable size rooms maybe slightly jaded but comfortable. Very adequate shower room and toilet. Some rooms overlook the river and there is a very nice outdoor terrace and swimming pool. Breakfast was good but could get a little busy and the evening meal options are also OK. The hotel occupies a good position just across from the riverbank and makes a good place to explore the Southern part of Burgundy. Staff were friendly and efficient and we would certainly use this hotel again if in the Maconnais.

Small room, smells like Brussels sprouts and is not well maintained. The restaurant could not be booked upon arrival and the pool is closed in June on a sunny day with a temperature of 27 C. The receptionist performed at minimum level. Signs in the hotel refer a.o. to no smoking on one floor as was usual in 2003. Apparently not updated ever since. Overal impression is very unsatisfactory. The 4* hotel qualifies at best at 2* for twice the price. Most Ibis hotels are better than this Mercure hotel.

I had a very bad experience, I secured my reservation with my credit 1 day before, next day we arrived to the hotel and they say the hotel system was CANCELLED BY EMAIL,but I never received that email.I just got the email saying my reservation WAS SECURED,so they called another hotel to give us a cheaper and way smaller room but at least comfortable, I dont recommend this to any person or family.

We loved this hotel on our journey down to the South of France. Lovely staff. Nice big car park. Perfect location for walking the dog down the side of the mighty Saone river. Good place to stop. We found a fabulous place to eat and buy the great local Macon wine, just go to the river, turn right and about 300m turn right and cross the road, it is right in front of you called the Maison Maconnaire des Vins. Really good and so close to the hotel.
