Perfectly located for Paddington Station and the Heathrow Express. The building is fantastic but the interior needs to be refreshed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The double room I had was very small to the point there was nowhere to store luggage, but the bathroom was spacious with a powerful shower and the bed was very comfy. It's great to see a focus on more sustainable hospitality with refillable shower gel, shampoo and soap instead of single use containers, but that didn't extend to the other complementary items in the room including individually plastic-wrapped biscuits. Also nice to see little touches like shaving and toothbrush kits. It would be better to manage guest expectations by not overselling the "fitness suite" which is a room big enough for 2 people to workout comfortably, with about 10 equipment stations crammed into it so that noone can work out effectively. The food at Frany and Benny's restaurant was OK but the service was excellent and very friendly. Overall - 2.5 stars with potential to be a 3.5 with some care and attention.

Worst Mercure

While I have used this hotel before, I find it the worst Mercure I have used. The bathrooms are all too small, the rooms can be noisy. The shower was cold in the morning and the staff at reception did not seem at all bothered, nonchalant in fact. I think I will need to reconsider using this Mercure in future which is a shame as I try to stay loyal to Accors.

Great location next to Paddington Station. Some background noise from trains ( and construction site) but not too intrusive - my husband didn’t hear anything. Very friendly and welcoming staff on reception. Had a complementary drink at the bar. We had a 3rd floor room overlooking the street but no noise/light pollution due to double glazed windows and blackout curtains. Good sized clean room, king size bed, complimentary soft drinks in the fridge and a small bottle of Prosecco. Bonus in the bathroom with a bath, shower and a window! Nice fluffy towels and a good range of toiletries, robes and slippers. We tried the on site Frankie and Benny’s breakfast one morning and found it tasty and value for money, with a lovely lady serving us. Only two negatives - the shower curtain needed replacing and I found the a/c noisy ( my husband didn’t ).

Very comfy pleasant stay and so handy being so close to Paddington, literally a couple of minutes walk. Great place to get over our long haul flight, didn't try the restaurant but looked like a nice place to relax. We chose a small room as it was only for one night.

Fantastic location, low price

Fantastic location, just outside the entrance to Paddington station. Great when you arrive into Heathrow and can take a direct train to Paddington, and then just walk a few steps before you arrive in the hotel. Saves you navigating around London on the Underground, busses etc. with heavy luggage. Front desk staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an older building and its age is also reflected in the room furnishings, bathrooms etc. Don't expect modern luxury. But it is clean and it works. Had read in advance that the rooms advertised as 'small' are indeed that, and decided to steer clear of those. So I had booked a standard twin bed room. This was adequate for my wife and myself, but compared to other Mercure hotel rooms across Europe, it was still fairly small. Fx. there was just one chair to sit on. The other person in the room would have to sit on the bed. (Not that there would have been room for more furniture...) The room walls and the doors are paper thin, so you can clearly hear other guests in both the neighboring rooms and in the hallways. Thankfully during our 3-night stay the hotel was fairly quiet between 22.00 and 07.00, so we slept fine but I had brought earplugs just in case... For a fair comparison it must be mentioned that this Mercure hotel is significantly cheaper than other Mercure hotels in central London, and I guess this is because of the smaller rooms and the age of the building. Breakfast is in a public restaurant on the ground floor. It is adequate but not fantastic, compared to other Mercures. However, once again the price reflects this. Would I stay there again? Maybe. But on my next visit to London I might sample other Mercures to see if they offer a better quality for their higher price.
