Truly Magnificent (Feedback, Staff Callouts and Tips below)

We stayed for my birthday for 2 weeks all inclusive at Easter and wow – what an amazing hotel and so much to compliment and talk about along with a few tips. For those considering this hotel, you will not be disappointed. RECEPTION ARRIVAL We were welcomed upon arrival and served drinks in the huge reception area whilst the staff provided us with the usual paperwork. A refreshing touch following a 12 hour flight from the UK and a 2 hour transfer from Phuket. BEDROOM Spacious and comfortable with a walk-in shower and ours had a balcony overlooking the huge pool. Would recommend requesting a pool view. Room was cleaned daily by the hardworking housekeepers with towels always changed and you could also request a full bed change at any time by leaving a card on your pillow. 4 bottles of water provided free each day in the room which you can keep in your fridge. TIP: Take some RAID mosquito spray for your room to spray in the room before you leave for evening meal. Mosquitos seem to enter the bedroom whilst the bedroom is being cleaned each day and this will mitigate being bitten in the night. POOL AREA Absolutely massive pool – the largest in Thailand. Huge inflatable for the kids (and some adults after a Pina Colada or one of Golf's Mango Mai Tai's) and a separate Adult area for those that like it a little quieter. Pool opens at 7am and there is no need to rush for sunbeds – these were available until at least 9am and we went at Easter where we were informed that the room occupancy was 98%. TIP: Towel stations are positioned around the pool and are available all day from 8am to 6pm. If you are an early riser and want to sunbath from 7am then you will need to save your towel from the previous day with towels not available until 8am. SWIM UP BAR and eating area – this was always very well staffed with everyone serving to all our needs with a smile. And then there is Golf the barman who worked tirelessly all day making cocktails for customers and never failed not to smile and proactively serve you regardless of how busy it got. TIP: Pool bar doesn’t open until 11:00am each day so make sure you take water with you to your sunbeds after breakfast. If you don’t fancy going to the pool bar – just press the button on your umbrella and a member of the pool team will be along within seconds to a few minutes to take your order and bring it to your sunbed. Big shout out also to Peemai, Kris (Southampton😊), Sam, Skye, Somrak (who never stops smiling) and also the French girl – apologies can’t recall her name, who made every day by the pool special and up there with the best we have experienced anywhere in the world! Sincerely thank you. The food at the pool bar restaurant is simply 5 star and we ate there every day. The food is cooked from fresh in the kitchen behind the pool bar and the hardworking chefs can adapt the foods to cater for allergies should it be needed like for myself (Gluten free – as do all the restaurants). RESTAURANTS/BARS Maya Restaurant – we only went to Maya for breakfast however we were aware it was available at lunch but we chose to eat at the pool bar restaurant. The breakfast was buffet style had everything you could possibly need be it hot or cold. Usual omelette and egg stations and a whole bread and donut room which looked amazing. TIP: There is a gluten free bread however it is seed based and more like a cake and nothing like what we would get in Europe. I would recommend bringing your own gluten free bread as it is very different in Thailand. White Lotus Restaurant – this was truly outstanding food. Thai and Indian menu where we dined at most evenings due to the high quality food and its presentation and also the friendliness of the staff. Thank you to the amazing and attentive Ya Ya who was a wonderful host and a real credit to Sofitel. Also, a big shout out to Lynn who also served us in the restaurant and at the pool area where nothing was too much trouble and was always there to help. Venezia Restaurant – this was an Italian restaurant and was also very nice food and great service. TIP: You need to book for the White Lotus and Venezia Restaurants which you can do at the Reception each day for the same evening. Explorer Bar – this was a small luxurious lounge bar perfect for having a pre and after dinner drink at. You are also provided with nuts, crisps and stuffed olives to compliment your drinks. There is also a couple of local singers who perform each night from about 8pm until 11pm and they were very good. Shout out to Ja and Me who served us with a smile each evening. GOLF COURSE The golf course is a 9 hole course and made up mainly of tricky par 3’s. With the temperature averaging high 30’s early 40’s each day I would recommend that you Tee off at 7am when it opens as it gets too hot from midday. You can rent a trolley, clubs (male or female Callaway clubs), balls and tees. It costs about £40 per person for a round with all the clubs, balls and trolley and is booked at the Activities room in Reception. TIP: Some holes are extremely tricky with lots of water hazards so would recommend hiring 6 balls as YOU WILL lose balls even if your handicap is <10! Take your golf glove from home with you as these are not available and also take a towel on the course as you will sweat profusely and will need to dry your club grip/hands. SURROUNDING AREA There is a small beach opposite but not really for sunbathing – no umbrellas and there were a lot of jelly fish when we were there. There are a few local shops, bars and restaurants about a 10min walk down the road. There is a 7-Eleven there as well should you need essentials if you are not all inclusive. They sell Gluten Free beer - its called Singha 89 Cals and about 80p per can to keep in your fridge as the hotel unfortunately don't provide Gluten Free beer. TIP: There is also a small currency exchange opposite 7-Eleven which opens 10am-7pm and the rate is significantly better than at the hotel. TAXIS – Ao Nang is the nearest town and is 15min in a taxi. The reception order you a nice air conditioned taxi to Ao Nang for 650 baht (£14) however when you return you can get one from the Ao Nang market area for 400 baht (£8). Ao Nang has a market and food market and many restaurants and bars. No need to travel to Krabi night market as the same tat/souveniers is sold at Ao Nang every day. TRIPS – would recommend James Bond Island with Sea Canoe trip and also the 4 island tour. Amazing. TIP: Book through GetYourGuide website/App as 50% cheaper than through the hotel or TUI rep for exactly the same trip. You are collected from your hotel at 8am and brought back 8 hours later for each trip. Food and drink provided and the trips are simply breath-taking. Peter (Director of Food and Beverage) – lovely to meet you and checking in with us each day. As you can see the many amazing compliments around the hotel, staff, facilities and food. If there is an element of improvement feedback that was a discussion point and seemingly a bone of contention for all the guests we happened to parlay with – it is the pool bar opening at 11am each day. Waiting 2-3 hours at poolside in extreme heat after breakfast people felt was too long and we found ourselves on the verge of dehydration 😊. Appreciate there is some communal water bottles at the top end of pool however for a 5 star hotel our recommendation would be to consider opening the pool bar at little earlier for drinks at maybe 10:00am or 10:30am at the very latest. This would be a significant facility improvement and we are very confident it would be welcomed by all the guests. I know customer feedback is taken on board and acted on which we evidenced with the introduction of the tea trolley at breakfast so hopefully this will be taken into consideration too. Separately, stocking some gluten free Singha 89 Cals at the bars would be a welcomed provision for many guests like myself who have gluten/wheat allergies, intolerances or are Coeliac. That's the one thig that I missed and would negate guests travelling to 7-Eleven to have their dietary requirements met. The majority of bars, restaurants and hotels in the UK and cities in Europe provision gluten free beer as standard. One to consider for your hotel. Would be well received by guests and a great catering advertisement for the hotel and Sofitel showing that they cater for those with dietary needs. Thank you all for making our holiday so amazing. We stayed in Thailand for a month and spent the last 5 days of our Trip at the Sofitel. We had a great time and having a 15 month old baby the kids club was amazing and they truly went the extra mile. We felt so comfortable that we even went on a few evening meals as a couple and utilised a nanny service where they looked after our baby in our room. highly recommend! Shane in F and B went the extra mile and got some fresh mangos, and dried mangos delivered to our room on our last day too! Thank you Shane, I wish I tried some of your signature dishes ! Also, A big thank you to the management team who gave us a complimentary late check out for us- it meant a lot to have the room for a few hours longer. Thank you ! Jon, Emily and Phoenix xx

Good property. Dont have their own beach. You have to cross the road but their guards etc keep standing there. Has an Indian restaurant. Staff can be rude at times but then I complained about it and it was fixed. Overall can be considered, when with kids.
