Good location. nearest mrt station is Goldfish hutong and within walking distance from wangfujing. Room is reasonably comfortable but the cabinet to hang clothes is quite useless as the space is small while the fixed hangers does not allow me to hang anything due to the small space. Reception service is friendly and helpful. We. couldn’t book a tourist attraction online as it requires a local number. Eric at the reception helped us to book the attraction using his personal account even though it was not his responsibility. We didnt approach the concierge because the person at concierge was totally unhelpful. On two occasions we asked for help to make reservations at a restaurant. The concierge make a call said it was engaged and left it at that. Even when we asked if he could help us call again while we were out, he refused flatly, giving excuses such as since there are only 2 of you, you should have no problem or there is need to make reservation. This same person served concierge on the night of 9 and 11 Apr on the 2 occasions we approached him. He wasnt busy just poor attitude and laziness. Overall, if you can overlook the shortfall in service, it is a reasonably price hotel for its location.

The room was clean. The maid service was excellent…replaced towels, toiletries. The gift shop sold postcard stamps. Breakfast would satisfy any culinary preferences. It is amazing and would offset any negatives. It has eggs to order, noodles also to order with a good variety of sauces. Asian foods, croissants, baguettes that you could slice yourself. My tastes: kidney beans and cherry tomatoes with Caesar dressing. Assorted pastries with my two double espressos…they had three machines around the room. You could eat all three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner with the foods offered. One of the best from around the world, though it rivaled a hotel breakfast in Iceland.

Excellent location near shops and many restaurants. Also close to the main sites. All good walking distance. We hadn’t realised we would need an appointment to visit Tiananmen Square. Thankfully our guide did, but you can’t go there without. The room at the hotel was comfortable and the food choice was acceptable and varied. A small western choice and great coffee. I’d stay here again.

Good: 1. Location: AirPort Express train to BEIXINGQIAO station and change to line 5 to DENGSHIKOU station (3 stapes only). Then walk to hotel is just about 5 minutes with luggage. Exit C. The hotel is also between line 5 and line 8 of the metro lines. 2. Reception staff: Speaks good English for some and were pleasant and accommodating. Bad: 1. Room booking/Room: On Novotel website was shown a double bed but the receptionist told me my booking is twin bed. They upgraded me to a double bed room. Room was very dark and gloomy. When I next passed by the receptionist I asked if they could make the room brighter as it’s very dark and seems like three lamps were spoilt. They then upgraded the room again to a premier room. This premier room’s light is all working but the room is still dark if not for the west sun. Both rooms furnishings are very old and worn out. And look very dated. Toilet has moulds on some parts of the bath area and there r cracks on the wooden wall. Room size was ok though and quiet for a sleep. For the price paid think the hotel room is of very poor value, just not comfy and that I also mean the “feel” of the room.

Pros: Location - next to Wangfujjng street where you can find almost anything you need when it comes to shopping and eating. Size of the room - was upgraded from studio to suite. It was very convenient to have a separate rooms with big table, chairs and sofa to accommodate guests and colleagues for a drink etc. Cons: Hotel really needs renovation. Fitness - very old equipment and small room. Swimming pool - ideal for toddlers and small children, but not good for swimmers. Barely found a towel, non-english speaking inattentive staff. Breakfast - very subjective. I tried only once although stayed there 3 nights. Towels (in room) - clean but worn, old.
