We had a wonderful time at Sofitel Santa Clara. The location is perfect! The staff is amazing and very knowledgeable and the tour of the hotel was excellent. Our suite was spacious and perfect for our family of three. Breakfast at The Jardín had a lot of variety, the food was delicious. We will definitely visit Cartagena again and look forward to it.

We stayed in Sofitel Legend Santa Clara around a week and all in all, it was a fabulous experience.   At arrival we found something in the room, which clearly was not expected to be found in a hotel like this. This was our 3rd hotel after staying in Bogotá and Medellín and our expectations were high, as we really had great experiences in those cities.   The disappointment of my boyfriend after arrival, was not good for me. One of the things I love when travelling is seeing that smile on my boyfriend’s face which makes me enjoy my holiday 100%. We had a very nice suite; however, the first impressions were not very good, so my boyfriend wasn’t feeling it.   We said we would sleep and next day we would see what we could do. Next day we went for a walk and without saying anything (we are not complainers, if we don’t like a place, we leave or never return), the Guest Experience Department got in touch with us and apologized, which was good; I spoke with them, and they prepared a surprise for my boyfriend which quickly turned his impressions into a great one.   Our room was very nice, ocean view, nice bed, spacious and with a nice classical Cartagena touch. After speaking with Guest Relations, our stay just started to be amazing. Breakfast is good (some small faults depending on the waiter/waitress), but food was delicious.   This hotel is just like travelling to the past, with beautiful gardens, nice atmosphere, a great service, and overall warm people.   In my opinion, location is the best you can have in Cartagena, just some meters away from great restaurants like Juan del Mar or La Cevichería.  From front Office to Housekeeping, all were friendly and helpful.   We had a Butler Service, and they helped me to repair some very special shoes I had, and they found out the best way to help me with it.   Our stay was so good at the end, that we had a reservation in Isla Barú for the rest of our stay in Colombia, and we shorten it to comeback to Sofitel Legend Santa Clara, when we came back, we had the Gabriel García Marquez suite, which was really nice. Again, we found some issues in the room that were not up to the standards you expect from a hotel of this category; however, a hotel is made by people and people went above and beyond we expected.   We would like to thank all the staff, especially Ernesto, Johan, Kendry Rudy Luis (waiter) and Jimmy Bellboy for all they did to make us feel very welcome.

Santa Clara hotel is excellent! The staff everywhere in the hotel (reception, lobby, restaurant, bars, and the spa) were so amazing, helpful, and polite. The spa treatments were very relaxing and had great facilities. Cannot wait to return!!

5-star Luxury with Both Bygone Era Splendor and Modern Amenities in the Heart of Cartagena’s Timeless Historic Center We thank the entire staff at the iconic Sofitel Legend Santa Clara for an unforgettable week at one of the most beautiful hotels in the world, rich in history and run by a staff who clearly embrace 5-star luxury. Stepping into the courtyard upon check-in you feel like either royalty of an ambassador visiting this gorgeous former convent rich in history and divine aesthetics. We were finally able to meet the concierge Diego who so meticulously had worked with me for weeks planning every detail, and were introduced to his fellow Butler colleagues Carlos, Ernesto, Rudy and Danny who were always just a text away to cater to even the slightest of needs. Room Division Director, Eric Arredondo, also so graciously welcomed us to the hotel which he clearly manages with pride, professionalism, and top-notch service. We thank you all ! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. And the art, furniture, light fixtures, and every aesthetic are meticulously displayed throughout the entire hotel, evoking a timeless era that you and now living within. Timeless as it is, however, don’t let that make you think there isn’t every modern amenity you could need. The rooms are lovely, new, crisp, and complete with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, multiple electronic ports, perfect AC and spot on water pressure/temperature. We were overlooking the pool which is beautiful, quite large, serene, and with plenty of lounge chairs, and a wait staff that caters to our every need. Just up the stairs is the gym which has all we need to stay fit during the decadent stay. Then there’s the full-service spa where we had incredible massages and facials that I highly recommend. And then, there’s the sleek outdoor cocktail bar, Botika, overlooking both the pool and the sea - and has live music after 6. The place fills up later in the evening and it becomes quite the hot spot right overlooking the walled city. We also dined at 1621 which is quite an experience. First, it’s in the home of the Clarisas nuns and you literally feel the history run through you in a very magical way. And then, the food and wine – impeccable! We went for the ten-course meal with wine pairing. We thought, if you’re going to do it, go for the full experience. Well, it did not disappoint. One course after the other was better than the next. And the wine – I’m not usually into pairing with multiple different types of wines. But I stood corrected as this made for a completely different experience meshing every course variation with a wine that brought it all to yet another level. And both our server and the sommelier were beyond delightful and so well informed that not only did we love the meal, but we also learned so much. So, I again thank the entire staff at this incredible hotel and highly recommend it to anyone seeking the same beautifully memorable experience we were so lucky to have lived and will remember forever.

Great spot for exploring old town cartagena 1. Rooms were great 2. Fast wifi 3. Nice showers / good water pressure 4. The gym was not the most impressive but I find this to be a minor thing 5. The hotel breakfast buffett is fantastic - never ate here in the evening since there were so many good options out and about but im sure it was fine 6. there is live music in the evenings, both at the pool terrace and also in the bar/club area. very fun 7. drinks are good, generally very well received 8. The pool is nice - staff is very attentive, can get crowded in the middle of the day but earlier/later side is not an issue
