We stayed at the Pavillon Winter for 6 nights. Our stay got off to a bad start. On our first night the air conditioning was pumping out warm air (27C) and, as it’s a centralised air conditioning system, the temperature could not be reduced so we had to turn off the air conditioning although it was still too warm for a comfortable night’s sleep. To make matters worse, there was a nearby event (possibly religious) which went on until late and kept us awake due to the excessive noise. Fortunately, matters improved greatly the following day. We were supplied with a good quality fan and this made for more comfortable nights. And there were no further noisy events to disturb our sleep! After the initial problems, our stay proved to be very good. The room itself was a good size, had a fridge, TV, full length mirror, hairdryer, good bathroom products and plentiful supplies of drinking water. The only thing missing were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The room was kept clean by daily visits. Breakfast is served on the ground floor in a lovely outside area, but there is also an internal seating area. There is a variety of foods plus a chef who will prepare fresh omelettes, fried eggs, etc. The breakfast area did get busy but there were plenty of staff to keep tables clean and make them ready for new arrivals. The grounds of the hotel are really beautiful. There are a wide variety of plants and trees, flamingos, peacocks (although we only ever saw these in pens), hoopoe birds and a wonderful swimming pool area. The pool staff were very efficient and helpful. They were quite proactive in providing towels and moving sun beds. Staff at the poolside café were also good and we ate a few meals there although it was a pity the café closes at 5.00pm. The hotel is attached to the Winter Palace and we visited this grand old building which reeked of history. We ate once in the atmospheric Corniche Restaurant and the food was very good. Prices were quite high for Egypt but were similar to a decent restaurant in the UK, so good value considering the restaurant is in such a famous hotel. We also had a drink in the bar which was also very atmospheric although unfortunately there was a strong smell of cigar smoke which was off-putting. Finally, I should mention the Reception and Room Service staff. They were very helpful especially when my wife had a fall outside of the hotel and required ice several times a day to reduce the swelling on her ankle. They also offered to call a doctor, but this wasn’t necessary, and lent us a wheelchair for use in the hotel grounds. The Pavillon Winter is a wonderful oasis of calm away from the chaos and hassle of Luxor’s streets. The grounds are beautiful and staff are helpful and caring. After an inauspicious start, our stay proved to be really enjoyable and we would happily recommend the hotel. If we ever decided to return to Luxor, we would definitely stay here again.

Super-friendly and professional staff and lovely rooms with beautiful views overlooking the amazing garden. A true oasis and a gem! Great breakfast in the yard and just a very charming spot. Pool area is also nice and clean. Loved the glass bottles of water in the room and everywhere and the environmental awareness.

Staff (specially at the reception) is very friendly, professional and really ready to help anytime! Good job!!!! In this way, even if you are a turist or a business men, you can get local advices and help to turn your stay in a nice experience.

The hotel is very convenient, and the gardens are a beautiful haven from the busy streets of Luxor, pretty flowers trees and many lovely birds. The pool is excellent and large enough for a good set of laps. Rooms were good, service was free fly and helpful and we loved the breakfast sat out in the sunshine in the garden.

When you enter the superb, large garden/park you think you are dreaming: high palmtrees, orange trees, wonderful flowers and many hopooes. The staff is very polite and professional, the hotel is clean and friendly. This shows it is good directed. We had excellent breakfast on the wonderful terrace, while the sun rises in the morning. The rooms are large with perfect balconies and fine equipment inside. The pool ist great, heated water! We really enjoyed our holidays!
