Probably the most depressing stay ever

I've stayed in many many hotels, 5 star and 2 star and this one tops the list of one of the most awful stays I've ever had. You'd think in a hotel that is 200m from an international tourist location such as the Versailles Chateau that reception would speak English...nope. So anyway checked in, went to room. Omg this is where the issues really started. I didn't book an Ibis Budget, I booked the Ibis Versaille Chateau. This indicates to me that I could expect a reasonable standard of hotel, like a reasonable size room with fairly modern decor, nope. This hotel has wood chip wallpaper painted beige and brown. The room was tiny, it bashed off the bed as you walked in. There are not even tea and coffee facilities in the room. The bathroom is absolutely tiny, I had to go sideways out of the shower. The worst thing by far was the service by reception, apart from reception not speaking any English, this is not her fault the management Franco who stood by and watched us struggle. When we phoned reception about the disgraceful room she couldn't understand us and hung up. We then went physically to reception again and we could not understand. Again Franco was asked to help as we were not happy with the room, when we asked for the number for customer service he said he did not have a number and made no effort to find one saying in ten years nobody has complained about the rooms which I find really hard to believe. So after also experiencing terrible service from Accor and Agoda we decided to give up and just stay in the pokey little brown room for a special trip to the Versaille Chateau. The only good thing about this hotel is its proximity to the chateau and train station. Otherwise I would book somewhere else, an absolutely awful experience. It's number two on the list of worst hotels ever stayed and I've travelled globally in cheaper and more expensive hotels. I'll be writing to Accor/Ibis and Agoda.

We had a terrible experience with the hotel reception with the team being rude and irrespecutful. There is a real lack of customer service. It has not been a pleasant experience and we will for sure not come back. That’s a shame and a real waste as the location of the hôtel is good .

Great location for a visit to Versailles palace as well as lots of nice cafe's and Restaurants around. Parking can be a problem unless space in Hotel carpark, so need to get there early. Not possible to park outside hotel even though you need a code for the Hotel carpark, so was a little stressful. Our double room was the usual IBIS style, clean and perfectly adequate with a good mattress and pillows. It was facing towards a courtyard so not a pretty view but nice and quiet during the night which was what we wanted for a one night stay. The bathroom was very small but ok for 1 night. When leaving we suggested tea/coffee facility in the rooms as in other IBIS Hotels, which they were planning to do anyway. Breakfast was as usual very nice but the best thing was the very friendly and helpful staff.

Absolutely no instructions regarding location of the car park or how to get into it. Room very small and the 'bathroom' was so tiny one literally could not turn round in it. Shower pretty ineffective with random varying water temperatures. Wifi terrible, pad and other device could not use it. No English language tv programs working on the TV. Breakfast items OK, baguettes not typical of good French ones and tiny croissants. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room servicing staff very good. Good location, once you can find it.

The hotel fits very well in the budget cathegory, so we had no huge expectations in what concerns the size or quality of the rooms. However, my colleague was charged twice by mistake for the same room (about 4k euro, out of which the price from the bill was 2k). We spent more than 3 hours at the reception desk talking to the receptionist about the error and showing her the bank account statement. She insisted that “they are not doing this” although the evidence of the contrary was clear. There was no manager we could talk to and the lady kept insisting everything is ok. As this was a business travel, exceeding the approved budget would have caused tremendous explanations needed on my colleague’s side, so she called the bank directly and got the second (eroneous) payment cancelled. Reception was useless, very bad service.
