A lovely setting but a disappointing visit. Two families visiting for a one night stop over en route South. A long journey so we had double checked (after previous reviews) that the restaurant would be open on the Saturday evening. An email received the day before to say that it would be closed - too late to search for somewhere else to stay. The outside are at the front of the hotel was tired and dirty, inside the reception area and restaurant were pleasant but first impressions not great. Covid screen still up at reception and TV broken in the bar area didnt help the experience. Breakfast offering wasnt bad but could do with a toaster (for us Brits) as per other Novotels.

My wife and I stay at this hotel three or four times a year on our journeys south and north in France and it is always outstanding. However in May 2023 we booked in as usual with a lovely receptionist and went to our rooms. It has been unseasonably cold in France in May and when I asked the kind receptionist why our room heating did not work she said it had been totally switched off. She kindly offerred to bring up an electric fan heater which she instantly did but it was clear that this device was centrally controlled in order to save on electricity despite customer comfort. The kind receptionist was later observed collecting room serivce trays on our floor and also working on the ground floor bar as well as on reception. Whilst all businesses must make profit, and overhead savings in hard times are perfectly understandable, the comfort and experience of loyal guests is always paramount otherwise they will simply vote with their feet! Come on Novotel - you have a fantastic and hard earned reputation to protect. Please cherish it and sort this out. Thank you. Richard Hirst.

Over the years we’ve used the Novotel in Limoges as a relaxing stop over with the guarantee of an enjoyable meal. Considering this was our first stay post Covid lockdowns and our first visit back to France since Feb 2020 after a long drive leaving the UK at 3am we were delighted to see a refreshed hotel and a very pleasant and straightforward check-in process. Then we had our evening meal and not only a very disappointing experience but a shocking meal. Asking, in French what the options were for our daughter on the children’s menu as there wasn’t a printed menu for this… a very stressed looking waiter went to ask the chef and returned to tell us it was fish nuggets and that was it! I made the mistake in saying hilarious’ in reply to one choice and only one choice and this I feel was my mistake as my steak I ordered was not only over cooked for my A point request but a tough old steak that my knife was struggling with too… I’ll add the flavour was good but mostly inedible. The waiter was not a happy chap and whilst the breakfast was up to the usual standards we will be avoiding a stay at this Novotel on future trips Was tempted to put a terrible rating but the check in, check out and breakfast gave it a better rating. A very unhappy Silver card holder

We had a relaxing break in our journey through France at this hotel. The room was quiet, the staff were helpful. There is ample parking. We had a good meal in the restaurant which also had a reasonable selection of wines. There was a good choice at breakfast although whoever poured cold water in the egg boiler after I had put my eggs in to boil was very annoying! We have stayed here before and most likely will again. Love the massive bear in Reception. The safe was not working but unfortunately couldn’t be mended as the hotel was waiting for someone to send them a special maintenance key.

We stayed here twice in September, the hotel is nicely located next to the lake and convenient for the A20. Rooms are comfortable and well decorated. Reception team were excellent but the bar and breakfast team were really slow to serve and on both occasions we waited nearly 10 mins at an empty bar to be served. At breakfast you are given a tray with the cutlery and crockery on which felt more like an Ibis rather than a 4 star hotel.
