The entirety of my stay was great as it is always when staying at Fairmont hotels. Clean room, prompt service, friendly staff..... However, I felt obligated to specifically point out the outstanding service I recieved from one of your telephone operators named Karim. I had the pleasure of speaking with Karim on three different occasions. On each one of these occasions, Karim was so very pleasant, professional, helpfull, polite and accommodating in every way. I must say that Karim absolutely represents what Fairmont is all about. Thank you, Jennifer

Definitely not a luxurious Experience

LOCATION AND BUILDING Nice heritage building hotel. Great location. Unfortunately, I did not see anything that much luxurious about the hotel. I would give the building and location a 10/10 SERVICE The service was perhaps the most luxurious thing about the hotel. The desk staff, concierge and doormen were fabulous. I would give the staff a 10/10 ROOMS -The Le Labo - Rose 31 soaps were great. I enjoyed the toiletries but the rooms themselves were not luxurious. They were simply standard hotel fare. - The Exhaust fan in the bathroom appeared overwhelmed so the mirrors were foggy each and every morning after a shower. That was inconvenient. -The comforter was great especially because they had the Canadian flag tag. ( Made in Canada). -Not sure why there was no coffee ( center) table in the living area. -There was also no luggage rack in the room. - WIFI was spotty at best. I had to log in quite a few times even while in the room. That was frustrating - Checkout options were unnecessarily complicated. I had to text the front desk who checked out for me. I wouldn't have minded being able to see my charges on the TV screen or an invoice slipped under my door on the morning of checkout. I would give the rooms a 5/10. MEALS Room service options options were standard. For the price of the rooms and the price of the breakfast buffet... ($39.00).. you would think the hotel would be able to offer a complimentary breakfast. (Less pricey hotels offer a complimentary breakfast especially when the breakfast menu at the Fairmont was pretty much lackluster). The sausages were overcooked and hard each and every time. The bacon was largely dry and overcooked and the Eggs Benedict Hollandaise sauce was not particularly tasty. I would give the food 3/10 ??? Would I return...Quite possibly but I would like to stay at the Westin next door and make that future decision. Thanks

Great room, bad shower

Amazing room in a lovely city, let down by its total lack of water pressure. Five hotels in three weeks, this was the best sleep we had. The bed was SO comfortable and despite being in the city centre, it's quiet at night. We would have loved it had the shower not felt like being dribbled on.

We stayed for a weekend for our anniversary and it was fantastic. The staff were all amazing and the hotel is beautiful. It's nicely located across from a large shopping center and the Canadian Senate building. Afternoon tea at Zoe's was the highlight with an exceptional server named Dave. All around a great stay.

Untrustworthy Management

I would not recommend that anyone stay in this hotel. I visited the Chateau Laurier in October, 2023. I left my car with valet parking who parked it in an open lot behind the hotel. I used my car several times during my three day stay. On the morning of my departure I was advised by security that my car had been broken into the night before. I was taken to the car and found that the driver's door had been opened with many items taken including identity papers. A report was filed with police. I became immediately suspicious when I noticed that there were no signs of a break-in and access had been made on the driver's side. I asked if I could review the security tapes and my request was denied. The police were only given a few individual photos that did not even show the car. It became clear to me that the valet parker had left the driver's door open during the night of the break-in but the Chateau refused to accept responsibility. I asked for a small amount of compensation for losses incurred plus the time required to fix and replace the stolen items. The Chateau ignored my request. As I am a Platinum Member of Accor, Fairmont's loyalty program, I appealed for mediation. After 2 1/2 months I have not received a response. I stayed at the Chateau regularly during my visits to Ottawa for 20 years. I have found that the response of the Chateau, Fairmont Hotels and Accor to be incredibly dismissive and I will never stay in this hotel again.
