Good size room with a unique set-up; entering the room, I walked into a hallway with the door to the bathroom (recently updated) on one side and a closest on the other. At the end of the hallway was another room, which was the bedroom and it was bigger than I expected for a European hotel room. Bedroom had a chair, plus two tables and a mini fridge. Was initially concerned entering my room because of noise (music from nearby square) but the noise was done before dinner and there was little to no street noise overnight. TV had primarily French channels as well as a few English language news channels. Friendly staff, possible to purchase public transit passes at front desk. Would stay again.

The hotel, with high cost performance, is located next to Jacobin Square, and the surrounding environment is good. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony on the top. The room has two floor-to-ceiling windows that we can walk to the balcony to have a nice view.

We really loved this hotel, more than expected. The privilege rooms were really worth the extra cost - they are so much better and the location cannot be beat. The staff was so sweet and welcoming, The bed was so good that we are looking into buying one just like it, firm and comfortable. The location is at the absolute best in Lyon, really good.

Our room (#404 was large and bright with all the nice hotel ammenities and spacious shower area. It faced over a busy shopping street but was still very quiet. It was located very conveniently at the corner of the beautiful Jacobins Square fountain, very near Place Bellecour, with fantastic shopping and dining all around. It was not a big hotel but the staff was very accommodating, helpful and friendly. They got us a last-minute dining reservation at Institut Lyfe at the nearby Royal Hotel, which is a Paul Bocue restaurant that trains chefs, dining staff and hotel management course. The meal was also supberb and most enjoyable.

We stayed here during the rugby World Cup. The hotel was fully booked. We were staying in one of the prestige rooms. I carefully read the reviews before we stayed here and the most accurate reviews are those that reference the poor a/c. And outside noise. The hotel is a little tired but our room was nice (brown carpet aside) the shower was excellent as are the products. Sadly we slept Poorly for a number of nights due to the warm temperature of the room. We informed the hotel team of the unacceptable temperature of the room and the plastic mattress protectors making the beds massively warm and uncomfortable. The protectors were removed but the a/c does not work effectively as it is set on low to save energy/comply with regulations - so we were told; odd that other good quality hotels in France permit cooler a/c. We were offered a fan after a few days but this was filthy but worked to make the room more comfortable after we cleaned it. We tried to speak to the manager about our dissatisfaction and had to speak to 3 people who were different tiers of management before we managed to speak to the general Manager who listened to our concerns but explained the building sold so there is only so much they can do although we were offered a discount and a gift of local delicacies which was very kind. The breakfast is set in a too small room but is not too bad. The bar is in the reception so doesn’t work and is not of a four star standard. Some of the reception staff were rude and that isn’t acceptable when all you want is for the hotel to provide a good service - ie a good night’s sleep in a calm clean environment. In all honesty, I cannot recommend this hotel and it’s not in any way 4 stars.
